One Grateful Chick

It's a fresh, shiny new year!
It's like a freshly baked, uncut cake!
It's like freshly fallen snow!
I feel like 'I don't want to mess it up!'
I'm giving myself to noon before I do something stupid, for sure.

I wanted to pop on over here and wish you all a truly Happy New Year.
Leave all the crap from last year behind.
Embrace the New Year.
It's OK to be imperfect.
We all are.
And for goodness sake - make no 'resolutions'.
Change your mind about some things - and make some commitments.

I also wanted to thank you for sticking with me this last year - as I faced my bad habits -

Whined a lot about big changes in my life.

And more times than I'd like to admit - didn't really know who I was anymore.
You are still here, and I'm so grateful.

I'm still here.
I'm grateful for that too.
: -)

I'm really not sure what I would have done without your support, your encouragement and the daily laughs that you all give me.

Here's to 2012!
I proclaim it the year of the chicken!

  1. I always make sure I read your blog whenever you post. I am in Fort Wayne but lived in Noble county for 18 years, miss the countryside at times but like the city too. Your outlook on life is very refreshing and your love of children so heartwarming. I hope you have the best year ever and keep on posting, you make me smile!

  2. Happy 2012 Jayme!! Have you heard of "One Little Word"? Instead of making resolutions, you choose a word to describe your year. My word for the year is "happiness".

  3. Happy New Year, Jayme! I love all the chicken pics.

  4. Happy New Year, Coop! I can't wait to see what it brings to us all. Hopefully, in some way or another, it finds us laying eyes on each other once again!
    It's time.

  5. Happy New Year of the Chicken! My girls are laying fools right now and one is acting broody. If you'd like to start the year out with a great song, Doris Day is singing over at my blog:-) I can absolutely see you in that dress she's wearing.

Either those are some extra large hens in that photo, or those are some extra small people.

  6. Jayme,

Year of the chicken or water dragon -- what's the difference? I mean except for the fact that they don't make a shake and bake bag big enough for water dragons, they are basically the same. Love your childhood photo. Was that the one they snapped during your time out for drinking? :)
Thank you for your email. I'll be getting back to you this week.
Thank you for the smiles and shared trials and tribulations of the last year.
Wishing you and the Coop Keepers Keeper a happy and healthy 2012.
    Love, Deborah

  7. Happy NEW Year Coop Keeper!! Love all the chicken pics- those boots on that woman made me laugh so hard!!!

  8. Have a great New Year Jayme, and no matter what happens we got your back.

  9. Jaymers,
BOCK-BOCK! As I write this, dug and I are sitting in front of the fire in the fireplace room. Our chickens free-range when we are home and the windows in this rom are at ground level. When a chicken passes by, it is funny!
LOVE YOU dear friend! Let's get together in person this year!
    xo, Cheryl

  10. Here she is, 2012...shiny and new as you say...Out of all our experiences in life ... our mistakes and stumblings are the hardest and yet the most lasting way to be s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d and grow!...intelligence is gained by reading and learning...WISDOM, on the other hand... is gained by living and experience!!! so from one wise sister to another...yeah I can claim it at 51!!!...Happy New Year and here's to a wiser, slimmer, healthier, happier sisterhood in America this year! God Bless ya Jayme!! hugs! xoxoxo

  11. Happy New Year, Jayme!! Thanks for all the inspiration (and fun) you give to us, your loyal followers ;) I had to catch up a bit here, and am very sorry to hear about Jinksie. Hope Calvin eventually adjusts to livin' large.. inside. I am so proud of you -- 2011 was an amazing year. Here's to another, even more amazing year ahead! -Tammy

  12. Ummm...Year of the Chicken? Is THAT on the Chinese Yearly calendar?;>)

I am so proud to be part of your following, Jayme. You have inspired me and charmed me with your "realness". I am a better person for having found you here...and my skin ain't bad either now that I am a Spring Chicken convert~ xo Diana

  13. Anxiously await more tales from the coop!

  14. Thank You so much for sharing yourself. It helps the rest of us.

  15. I agree with Nancy's comments. You keep it real sister and we are appreciative.

I hope Aaron is well, and Glenco feels better soon.

I have a long list of 'things to do' for 2012. I wanted my word for the year to be "mindful'. Mindful of what I'm thinking and saying, doing. It will be a challenge because I'm a bull in a china shop of life and sometimes break things.

Also my saying will be 'do it anyway'. As in, I don't feel like working out but I'm gonna do it anyway. As in, work can be a drag but I'm gonna 'do it anyway'. Apparently I make excuses all year long.

That's gotta stop because if I'm not careful 'it gonna be over in a blink of an eye'.

  16. It's always a pleasure to stop by here... you keep it real, and sometimes ridiculous... and don't we all need a little of both.

Happy Year of the Chicken to you and yours ~

  17. Happy New Year, kiddo! Good luck tomorrow at the dentist, see we do pay attention!! LOL!

  18. thanks for making me laugh - this farmgirl in Ohio sure appreciates you! praying for you today as you head to the dentist
