The Eve of 2012

Let me just say this.
It's uber gloomy here in Indiana - and if Glenco doesn't snap out of the funk he's in -
I'm getting a light box for the man.

I feel better now.

It's been an odd week - I feel like I'm just in limbo waiting for 2012.

That's me and Aaron - both of us fit in my jacket from last winter!

The BoyChild has spent the last three days held up on my couch sporting a fever of 103.
I do declare he's slept about 20 hours a day.
I like it that he wants to be here when he's sick.
It makes me feel nurture-y and needed.
Of course - after he started complaining about his neck hurting terribly, I called my sister and had her take him to urgent care.
I thought he might have the meningitis.

I'm an alarmist.

True story - my mother had meningitis as a child - and was in a coma - legend has it that the day they gave up on her and decided to bury her, she awoke.
I remember her telling me how they had her clothes laid out for the funeral.
As kids we always made her show us how she couldn't touch her chin to her chest.

I had to work at Pier One until midnight on Thursday night and sisters let me just tell you how that threw a wrench in my life.
I'm not used to staying up way late in the night like that.
I had to redo the wind chime display.
For real.

There's this frog that I keep looking at.
I have no idea why I want this thing - but I do!Yoga Frog

I'm only working at 'The Pier' three hours at a time, every other week.
I'm really not sure what the point is - but for now - I'm enjoying it.

Came home to pamper Aaron's feverish head, and tried sleeping in a sitting position on the couch holding his head so he wouldn't be alone if he awoke in the night needing something - but I only lasted until 3am before I needed to be horizontal in my own bed.

We had our first snow this week.
It was indescribably delicious.

I know this is an incredibly lame blog post - but it's been rather a lame week.
See?  My life is not all excitement and fluffy chicken butts - it's pretty darned regular.

I'm still mourning the death of Jinksie and nursing a bad tooth.
I go to my favorite dentist Monday - he wanted me on a course of antibiotics before the drilling began.
There will be nitrous, Xanax and blankets on Monday.
I'm taking the camera and plan on taking random photos while under the influence of nitrous.

I've brought in one of my outside cats.

I can't live catless - I can't!  I won't!
I'm not sure he's going to 'make it' inside.
He's got a bit of the wanderlust.
He hasn't been crying to get out for the last 24 hours - so there is progress.
I keep calling him Jinksie - and then I feel terrible.

I've been making a mental list of goals for 2012 and they involve things like -

'do a chin up'
'give up eating meat'
'raise and slaughter chickens and turkeys'
'breed and sell exotic chickens'
'plant new gardens'

As you can see - I'm confused.
I'll get it all on paper soon.
I'm REALLY looking forward to 2012.

I'll be in bed way before midnight tonight.
I've never been much of a New Year Eve gal.

I'll end this tortuously dull post with this last question....I'm aching to know what you are doing tonight, and what you are looking forward to the most in 2012?

The end!

  1. Our little town is celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2012 so the kick off is tonight with a street party and fireworks. I am going to drink a glass of wine, watch the fireworks and hope the fireworks are over by 9pm so that I can go to bed. See - I am less of a New Year's Eve kind of gal than you are! Peace and joy in 2012!!

  2. Our New Years Eve consists of an early movie and dinner out. As in early! We are home in our chairs watching ballgames and it feels great.
You will never write a boring blog. I love every one. You have been a great inspiration to me. I look forward to the New Year too. The possibilities and opportunities are exciting. Happy New Year to you and yours.

  3. Lovin' that fluffy butt! I'm a morning person, so I'll just greet the new year with a nice strong cup of coffee:@) Wishing you a wonderful 2012-enjoy:@)

  4. We will get the kids all cleaned up and pj'd and then Mark will shoot some fireworks. We will put the kids to bed and Mark and I will sit on the couch. He will turn on the TV and I will fall asleep. He will wake me up when he heads to bed and I will get all mad because he woke me up instead of just leaving me there and then we will realize its New Years. I will kiss him goodnight and then we will start it all over in the morning. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

  5. Cute post!

Happy New Year, hope it's filled with joy, happiness and many blessings!

  6. I needed that fluffy butt! We don't do anything for New Year's eve either.

  7. Sitting at home, reading a new book I bought at the bookstore today.
Hoping for a headache free year.......and that's it.
I can't believe how much I want that.
    Happy New Year!!!

  8. We ate homemade minstrone soup for dinner and will spend the rest of the evening letting the dogs in and out, watching TV, blogging and falling asleep by 10pm. The End.

  9. what I am looking forward to the most is that it won't be 2011 :)

Spending a quiet evening at home - daughter is a sicky and came home so her momma could take care of her :)

    New Years Blessings!

P.S. You inspired me -- I got real brave and posted by journey story complete with photos -- glad that is over, I almost *chickened* out, lol.

  10. We are going to a block party in the rv park. It starts at 7 and I am sure it will only go to 9. After all it gets cold in the desert when the sun drops. We are not much for celebrating New Years either. When we get back to our place I will snuggle up , crochet and watch my taped Coronation Street from last night.

  11. Working the middle of my 32 hour weekend shift!!! Just like any other weekend!!! My wish for 2012 is a peaceful divorce- yep my world just crashed and caved last week-- but life must go on!!
Best of luck to everyone in the new Year!

  12. Ha! I love that last picture!

I'm trying to stay up until at least 8:00 tonight! Such party animals my hubby & I are NOT!
We entertained my nephew and his family today so we're pooped.

We have a New Year's Eve tradition of counting our loose change that we've thrown in a jar all year long and then we head to bed around 9:00! Excitement galore!

A major goal for me this year is to declutter in 2012! I've signed up for the 2012 declutter calendar and am going to do my best to follow it and get some sanity back into my home and do some MAJOR simplifying of life! I also want to get some dairy goats this year and breed some Khaki Campbell ducklings. I want to plant a native flower garden in my front yard in hopes to have bees one day. There are more resolutions but I think those will keep me out of trouble, er, I mean busy for a while!

    Happy New Year!

  13. Tom's flying, so I took out my temporary tooth (in the middle of getting a tooth implant), am eating the last of the Christmas fudge, watching a Monk marathon, and knitting. How's that for exciting!!

  14. Honey, the last thing you are is boring! I always enjoy reading your posts. And if I had more time, I'd read them every day. You are looking fabulous. You are my inspiration for 2012. What am I doing tonight? Sitting here with the dogs in my little blue house. Under a nice warm blankie in my favorite chair. Probably hit the hay just after nine. I'm pretty boring.

  15. Well one of my sweet discoveries last night was this great (and I do mean grrrrreat) blog Jayme - you've more than tickled my funnybone, you've more than given me some "loving the reading" stories and my resolution (leastwise one of 'em) is to become a faithful follower of this Sweet Spot! Happy New Years to you and yours
    God Bless,

  16. Went to see War Horse this afternoon, home relaxing and going to make a pie for tomorrow. More relaxing, football and movies will be on the agenda for the next few days.

In "twenty twelve" I will be increasing my daily walk to two miles each day and three miles a day in February. I want to enter some kind of walk/run race 2012 and hopefully encourage my youngest grandson to join me.

We never, ever can do enough for ourselves . . .

  17. Jayme girl....Goodbye to 2011 Coop Keeper Adventures and Hello to 2012 Super Duper Coop Keeper NEW Adventures...Life is a journey...Enjoy it and remember it's an adventure 'cause we don't know what can and will come our way...but what we CAN know is that In Christ we can do ALL THINGs...and With God, NOTHING shall be impossible...His own RAH!..and I am looking forward to the journey with you. Hugs. Praying again for that tooth, and Awesome rockin' sweet that you BOTH could fit in that coat!! Come on in... 2012! We are as ready as we can be. xoxoxo

  18. We went to a wonderful open house at one of friends tonight. It was lovely but now we are home and playing a bit of "catch up" on computer and office work.

I was planning on a down day tomorrow but it looks like it is going in an unexpected busy direction.

Happy New Year to you, Jayme. I am glad to have met you here this past year. If you have just a moment pop by my blog and read one of my father's favorite little "poems". I think it will make you smile-xo Diana

  19. We planned to have our usual quiet evening at home. But the neighbors across the road and on the hill are having a huge outdoor party with a HEAVY METAL band screaming into the microphones with the amps turned up very loud. When I went outside to close the chickens in, they looked a little stunned and the donkeys looked somewhat skeered. We tried to sit in the living room with the tree lights on but the noise was stressing us. So it's loud TV, computers, headphones, whatever to drown out the noise.
2012: Peace and prosperity. And much improvement on my photography skills. And continued good health. And more de-cluttering of our garage.

  20. From one Hoosier to another: Happy New Year to you, too!

What am I doing for New Year's Eve? Ummmm.... reading your blog. :) And.... waiting for Anderson Cooper to come on. Yep, that sums up my life. I'm about as exciting as that chicken butt you just posted. :)

  21. I can't stop watching old Twilight Zone episodes that are airing all day. Did stop long enough to go watch the movie, "Warhorse," then back to Twilight Zone while I pinned a quilt together.

  22. well all the girls are on thier way out the door to do different things. I am nursing a cold and watching Tv. Dh just left to go the store for some munchies and soda to bring in the new year and we might have some friend pop over to just relax and watch movies with us. We don't go out we would rather just stay home and relax with family and friends

  23. I'll be watchin' Anderson Cooper, I think he's just yummy! You know sometimes a regular life ain't so bad. I would love to be able to be home more and not work full time (and be healthy of course), especially in the winter when you can sit with a cup of tea and just watch the snow fall! Happy and blessed new year to you, may it bring joy, good health and happiness.

  24. oh glenco made me smile. And you and boy child... oh my, that is great. Skinnie minnie and her boy.I love the chicken heinie. Makes me want one.
Calvin looks like he will be settling in. How could he not love living "in" with all of that?
Your list made me laugh out loud. You are still a goof even without the wheat. Love you pal! You are one of the blessings I count.

  25. Happy New Year! I am looking forward to focusing on each day and living "in it."

  26. A fluffy butt to start off the New Year, oh that made me happy! And the snow, loved that too! So funny you guys both fit into last winter's coat, and you have lost so much that I can't see you behind Aaron! We had a quiet New Years, went out for Mexican. I ordered a New Mexico enchilada and it was so dang hot I couldn't eat it so ended up having black beans and rice for dinner. Then we forgot the bottle of champagne in the fridge! That's what happens when old people celebrate... it never turns out right. Happy, healthy 2012 Jayme, it's gonna be a great year!

  27. I'm going to sleep through it>....well that didn't work too well, had my little grandson....

Happy New Year to you and I love how you post...random junk is good!

  28. Well. I've got to say that you ENDed your post - well. Good one.;)

I would have to answer your question with this: What I want to do, I won't. What I don't want to do, I will.

Stay up and sew instead of sleep-it-in.

    Happy New Year, my friend.

PS: I'm wearing the apron today - as I type. Just thought of it. :)

  29. The chicken butt is the cutest thing I've seen all year. Thanks.

Toby Keith say's 'let's have a party' so I had a party - we ate till we were stuffed - we played cards - we welcomed in 2012 - we cleaned up after ourselves and had a jolly good time. In other words, we had a party.

Loved it!! Amen and Happy 2012 to all the chicken butts in the world. Yes!!

  30. I love that frog! 2011 ended with me going to bed at 10. Slept in late this a.m. 2012....I will turn 65 this year. I'm planning on quitting work at the end of this month. Dumb? Maybe. But, feel that I need it. Eating roasted vegetables....plan to eat more of this type. Garden started already....I live in Arizona. Happy New Year. Enjoy your blogs so much.

  31. That Glenco is a handsome devil . . .even if he is old enough to be my dad.

Thanks so much for leaving a comment!
