Meandering Monday

It's Monday morning at 10:14am.
I just now feel like I might live.
I need happy garden pictures today, hope you don't mind.
I got up just an hour ago, and just now finished a breakfast of left over roast beast and a ridiculously fabulous tangerine.
The store was completely out of ground turkey breast the other day - what's a girl to do?

It's been a long weekend, and the cold that has been stalking me for two weeks, finally decided to pounce.
At least I think so - I might be right as rain, and this could be allergies -
since I put in my final shift at the Pier last night and copious amounts of dust was raised
as we reset furniture displays.
Cold? Allergies?
Time will tell.

I was moving furniture til near midnight.
I smashed a $100 vase and a $30 glass chicken (of all things!) by accident last night.
I could be wrong, but they might be glad to see me going.
You can't have me - up in a store - way late in the middle of the night - like 10pm - moving heavy things with a dolly.
Accidents will happen.
Last time I worked there, back in the day - I was known as the 'Dolly Mama' - I could maneuver anything anywhere.

It was a longish weekend.
I went to the mall again.
I take back everything I ever said about liking the mall.
I think they need to have a Xanax kiosk.

Watched Larry Crowne with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts.
Two thumbs up.

I fell hopelessly in love with Tom Hanks character.
I usually fall in love with all of Tom Hanks characters.
Remember 'Castaway'?
Help me.

It's Martin Luther King Jr's birthday today and it reminds me of when Aaron and I did our homeschooling gig - and we read a book about MLK, and as we read it - we would follow along on Google images and see the actual speeches and marches that we were reading about.

I remember one day in particular looking at images of these men pouring acid into a swimming pool that had about four young black children in it.
I just started bawling my eyes out.
Aaron just looked at me.
I just blubbered on and on.
I just don't understand prejudice.
It makes me mad as a hornet.

Aaron is off of school today and a week ago, when I was feeling chipper and energetic, I told him I'd take him to Ikea today.
Law.
Now that I feel like I've had a one night stand with a Mack truck, I've brushed my teeth, rubbed a little lipstick on and I'm about to head out the door to get the BoyChild and embark on the torturous journey.

Just in case you didn't know what love looked like - that's it.

Wish me luck.

  5. Just got over a tiny cold too... well, at least I think I'm over it. Thanks for the flower photos today... they were very uplifting considering how brown and lackluster things look around here outdoors. :-)

  9. Whatever you do, don't eat the meatballs.

Hope you're feeling better soon, I made a big pot of chicken soup today, would walk it over if we were neighbors. Now that doesn't help, does it.

  10. Jayme, which Ikea? Are you heading up near Chicago? I just can't figure where there is one near you. I'm sick and UGH.
I hate prejudice, too. You know I do. It is so wrong.
I know whatever happens, if you don't feel well, or you are tired, or whateve, Aaron will make you laugh and you will have fun. xo, Cheryl

Totally enjoyed the Monday musings Jayme - smiles over your words & cheerie pics., but, such a deep sigh over remembering the story of the little children and the pool...horrid, horrid times.

  17. Your story reminded me of when my kids were young and homeschooled, whenever we read something upsetting (like what you read) or uplifting, I would always cry. Then when I was tutoring special ed. kids I would read to them and do the same darn thing. I have to be very careful what I choose to read out loud or I make a fool of myself!

  19. I hope you're feeling a bit better today. Gosh, I love Tom Hanks too. I think I like just about every character he has played. I don't understand prejudice either. I finally watched "The Help" and I cried all the way through it I was so upset about how people were treated.

Hope your Tuesday is a good one.

  20. I have yet to step foot in an Ikea store. My sister and her sister-in-law go all the time... they love it! One day, maybe I'll tag along!

I would have been so upset if I smashed a $30 glass chicken! The vase... not so much, hahaha!

I hope you're feeling better by now and glad that you're finished working outside your lovely home! Take care!
