So Much Gratitude - and a Giveaway

Y'all have no idea what an encouragement you've been to me.

It gets so very tiring trying to be perfect doesn't it?
I think so often - in the blogging world - there is a tendency to try to give an appearance of a perfect life.
Perfect husband, children, home - lovely meals eaten daily on a perfectly set table.

Good Lord.  You have to realize that's not reality, right?
Yesterday I had three hard boiled eggs for breakfast and an orange.  I ate it off the cutting board...ha!

And isn't it just a little creepy that I took a photo?
I have it in the back of my mind that I want to do a photo journal of my food to answer the questions of
'what the heck do you eat?'

The reality of my life is this -
where there are chickens, there is poo.
where there are gardens, there are weeds.
where there are bees, there are stings.
where there are teenagers, there are attitudes.
where there are husbands, there are 'moments'.

It's just life.
I haven't the brain capacity, nor the time to be here trying to 'make believe'.

I personally believe that as a blogger, I have an obligation to present life the way it is.
It's bad enough we have to be faced with unrealistic body images while we check out our groceries, why do we need to log on to our favorite blogs only to log off feeling less than, or that we can never measure up to what they are presenting as their reality.

Ok - I'm going off on a tangent.

I came here today to thank you!
I'm sincerely so grateful for your comments, understanding and support.

Yesterday I did get the cards done!
I'd hoped to put them on Etsy this morning - but alas - I'm heading out for a day of fun with a friend, and I have to leave in a half an hour and I'm still in my pj's.

Here's a horrible picture of the cards - to give you an idea.
I thought they turned out super cute.

To thank you for all of your support - I want do do a giveaway of a set of four Mother Wilma note cards and a bottle of serum.

All ya have to do is leave a comment.  Make sure I have your email address too - SO many of you are 'noreplyblogger' email addresses and it breaks my heart at times that I can't reply to your comments.

  4. Jayme, I've always believed in you, with all your talents you are going far. Cards! Great start! A book next? Start with a children's book with the chickens as the main characters. As I said, don't work for anyone else, you need all your time for your own dreams to come true.

  5. I understand that thought process that so many people have on having to have "the perfect life" or the need to "show everyone that everything is ok and beautiful." Your blog, as well as many other blogs, support what I have longed believed...there is only one perfect person. We are not perfect, we all suffer from something in our lives. Thank you for sharing your struggles with us. Each day can be a struggle for so many, but knowing that we are not alone is helpful.

NOW...I love the cards and have so wanted to try the serum. :o)

Enjoy your day with your friend and maybe you will have good weather so that you can get out and enjoy the earth in your yard. I know I did last weekend for a short while....then the rains came...and are still here...Oy Vie.

  19. The cards are adorable! Side note - I stand at the kitchen counter to eat most days. If I have company I set the table and get all "la de dah" but when it is just me and the cat, I just stand in the kitchen. I am very classy that way!

  52. Jayme, I don't think it's creepy that you took a picture of your breakfast. You just made eating off the cutting board a magazine photo...nice composition. Tonight I had a slice of tofurkey roast off a tupperware lid. Life isn't pretty all the time. Also, I love your cards, you are a very talented gal. Next time I'm in Indiana I'm stopping by for a tour and a cup of tea. (Wishful thinking). I say enjoy life instead of trying to live in a movie and we will find that the ordinary things, like your breakfast, become the extraordinary. Blessings to you and keep real. Leanne

  54. Oh Jayme, I LOVE the cards. They are so definitely ME! And I could use the serum after the winter we've had. (Who am I kidding, we're still having it.) Your description of your relationship with sugar was a description of me, too. How could anyone forget they were eating a candy bar? Sugar calls to me in all it's forms. Thank you for doing this great give-away. And keep up the good work. I want to see a picture of that bracelet on your wrist. ralphjohns@bresnan.net

  58. Jayme,
You know why everyone (including those who've never met you) considers you a friend?
Cause you are the best kind of friend -- the kind who shares generously. You share your foibles, chickens, dreams, adventures, garden, frustrations, recipes, losses, inspiration, Aaron, your hysterical sense of humor, your insight, wishes, your handmade products to name a few. I could go on...but you get the idea.
Your cards are cute and happy and lucky will be the one who wins your giveaway.

    Susan

    ReplyDelete
  62. I have wondered why it is this girl I am friends with has such an uninteresting blog. You hit it---trying too hard to be wonderful. I wish I was a good enough friend to let her know---maybe I can think of a gentle way. Anyway, this is a great post and I love your cards! Love chickens and so excited to get new ones this spring. I was not sad that I didn't have them this winter:). I might be too late for the drawing but I wanted to thank you for this post!

    ReplyDelete
  63. It's about time, Jayme! I have been waiting for you do do these cards for a very long while. CONGRATULATIONS!

As for the other things you contemplated upon on this post... well, I look at you through the same lens that you see others through, and trust me, I would be horrified to show all in reality on my blog. I don't make it up though; I just omit much. '-)
