It's happening again.
It happens right around this time of the year - when my heart seams seem to nearly burst from all the goodness and light of the holidays.
The chilled turkey carcass is still nestled in it's plastic net, yet -
I can smell it.
I can hear the pots and pans rattling and envision whisking hopes and dreams into the gravy.
We are on the cusp of the most wonderful time of the year.
It's like being on a roller coaster and there's that moment of stillness before you plunge head first -
This is when 'it' happens.
'It' being - me thinking anything is possible.
'It' being - me making high in the sky apple pie dreams of gardens, poultry, triathlons, size six jeans, more bee hives, tapping maple trees and assorted shenanigans.
What is it about November that gets me all up in arms?
I have a feeling it has something to do with the fact that I can only plan everything and not actually have to do the work.
There are no triathlons in Indiana in November.
There are no plantings of gardens and baby chick purchases in November.
There is no adding beehives in November.
There's just thinking about it.
And when all you can do is think about it - sister - don't you just think you are capable of going to the moon and back?
But think about it I will - and plan it I will - and come time to actually do it -
I'm sure I'll adjust that list.
Here's to another beauty full ordinary day my friends!
What kind of chicken is that beautiful white with a black/white bib chicken???..... *swoon*....ReplyDelete
Yup that's me....can't ever get my mind to slow down. It's a sickness I tell ya.ReplyDelete
Ah Jamester, I wish I could write like you!ReplyDelete
I dream those fantastic dreams in January! And then yes....adjust as needed. Much adjusting.ReplyDelete
I'm thankful for you, Coop!
My dad used to keep bees. Those hives remind me of those times.ReplyDelete
It's the time of year when we finally get to slow down a bit from outdoor chores, that our minds begin to dream even bigger dreams for next season! Now, when it's next summer, 90 degrees and the heat & humidity are about to do me in, I'll wonder what on earth was I thinking! Agreed...a happy medium sounds perfect.ReplyDelete
Yep- I dream big, too! I dream about the ordinary AND the extra-ordinary. I dream about what I WILL do...think about what I SHOULD do and then, finally, get busy and do what I HAVE to do! xo DianaReplyDelete
I must say, I AM a big dreamer... and you're right, this is the time of year for dreaming and a bit of excitement for what is to come...ReplyDelete
Love this post...cause you caught me in the act of dreaming about more chickens, would they fit in the coop....ReplyDelete
Winter has just begun but here I am planning away...the cold and nasty days...perfect, now I just need a cup of joe to go with that!
I'm dreaming BIG!ReplyDelete
It's wonderful to dream with you, Jayme! xoReplyDelete
Dame Jayme - It's why I have a dozen hives! Order them in November and get them ready for spring! It's why I have two dogs. Got one in October and one in December. Because what else do I have to do? Those seed catalogs know what they are doing by sending them in the winter. Dream dream dream....but reality will hit, about the time honey is ready, green beans are coming on, and chickens are laying like crazy!!!ReplyDelete
Jayme...it all sounds wonderful!ReplyDelete
November is usually a dreary month for me... I usually do my dreaming in January, but I think this year I'll try this November dreaming! What a wonderful beginning to Thanksgiving and Christmas to spend a month dreaming!ReplyDelete
I love it too, so much goes on in the next 6 weeks it is like being on a roller coaster! I love every minute even if it does wear me out. Happy Turkey Day!ReplyDelete
Already there my friend. Already there.ReplyDelete
May your stuffing be tastyReplyDelete
May your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!
Happy Thanksgiving Jayme!
I am thankful for ordinary days and YOU my bloggy friend! I fear life here has not slowed enough for the winter dreamin'... but soon I shall think of you as I put my feet up beside the woodstove and circle chicks n seeds I want! :-)ReplyDelete

Hey Jayme girl..ReplyDelete
LOVE the post. I am (I think) finally settled in...all boxes unpacked...and ready to start "nestling into" Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Read down a number of posts trying to catch up a bit. Saw your weight loss to the right side and gasped...You ARE Pure Inspiration girl. I am amazed and proud to know you! You will motivate me to keep on keeping on. Love you bunches and love to visit and read your ponderings. ***I'm back!*** Yeah...to the moon and back girl. Who is anyone, I ask...to say that something is impossible??
Not me. I believe. HUGS and Happy Thanksgiving.xoxo
Jayme, this is what I wrote about today...about our burning bush and my heart blazing! I know, I know. What is it? I am your Hoosier sister, girl and feel the same!ReplyDelete
I love making plans. It's what makes the future so exciting. Whether we get there or not, we have already lived it in our minds and if we do get done some of what we planned, it's just icing on the cake. I planned an Alaska trip for years. The trip was wonderful, but the planning was almost as good. In our imaginations we can go anywhere or do anything.ReplyDelete
LOVE this post Jayme! I am full of those pie-in-the-sky dreams in January -- not resolutions but hopes for the new year but under the winter blanket of January, I am free to keep most of them dreams - at least until spring :)ReplyDelete
Hoping you had a great Thanksgiving -- down 1.2 pounds the week of is total victory for me - yay!!
I'm smitten with chickens and fitness too. I don't do tris though - just running for me :-) Enjoy your down time!ReplyDelete
Dreaming right along witchoo.ReplyDelete
