Oh my gosh I am cracking up. that is hilarious but I love the deeper meaning. :)
Dear Coop Keeper,I had to turn down the volume at the start expecting the worse. I am so happy that she survived the hawk's attempts, and found her way back to you.Love your stories, please keep them coming.
Although I understand the circle of life I don't necessarily take it like an adult should. Blubbering not only because Twisty was taken by the hawk but also because of the second chance!
Twisty is an inspiration to us all~ wise beyond her feathered ways... and an excellent camper, no less!
A story so well documented, she is definitely a legend.
now when you said in one of the camping posts a squirrel, a fox & a hen....i kinda thought you were talking about yourself there! ;) OOPS! glad old twisty lives to tell the tale and how cliche that she was dropped off in a no passing zone! i mean girl (twisty) knows how to amp up a tale! she does! i kept thinking..."why did the chicken cross the road?" hehe
Musta been those twisted ruby red slippers that got her home... I'm sure of it.
That is just amazing.. not only that she escaped the hawk, but also other predators for an entire month!!... She's a pretty thing, that Twisty girl.
Funny, cute, teary in places....you certainly can tell a good tale. Loved the moral behind it and I found it especially thoughful today as it is rememberance day (veteran's day for you). Home IS worth fightinng for!
Well that's just down right incredible...the legend of Twisty Fitzgerald continues!
I so remember when you were got your chicks and this one had crooked feet and how you taped them to cardboard to help get them to straighten out. She is such a beautiful bird, her feathers look like someone outlined them with a marking pen. This story had be me in tears.
Just goes to show...in life, it helps to be a little bit twisted...:-)Michelle (bf of Janie Fox)
What a sweet story. I'm glad Twisty got home and hope she's well for years to come.
OMGOSH- Whoever would believe that but your friends in Blogland? UN-FLIPPING-BELIEVABLE!!! I am so glad she found her way home~ xo Diana
Thatta girl, Twisty!! You're my heroine!
Now THAT was a tale from the Coop Keeper...
there is no place like home~~there is no place like home~~ Especially if the coop keeper is THEE Momma! Now to find the dang pillow???~~HUGS~~
Now that's a Good Read!!!
wow! If only your pillow had the dedication that twisty does...amazing that the chicken came back!! AMAZING!
You had me in tears over Twisty's demise. So thankful for happy endings!
Yay Twisty!!! You go girl!! I LOVE THIS POST!!! It's just the bestest, Jayme.Have a great weekend,BevBee Haven Acres...where the chickens are never behavin!
Amazing!I love that you took her camping with you to nurse her wounds! You're a great chicken mom.
Absolutely heartwarming! Thank you.
Oh the drama! In the midst of watching, my Riley-boy proclaimed "I need a hanky!"I fear you may go professional soon. I see a full-fledged screen play starring Twisty. You're going to be busier than a chicken with it's head..... oh, sorry about that. I got carried away. Please mail me your autograph before you get too big for your britches. Amen.xxoo
Poor little Twisty! So glad she sucked it up and made it back! Amazing!I'm really glad she's okay !!! Cute video!
That story should be made into a full length movie! I am sure chickens are much smarter than people commonly believe them to be. To be able to find its way home after fourwhole weeks is simply amazing. I have seen a goshawk in my garden a few times this year, and it is incredible to see how the chickens respond. Mama hen shrieked and all her babies dived under the bushes, and the other hens just froze.Kathy from Tasmania
From the cockles of heart, I needed this story of overcoming hardships and conquering fears. There is a moral here that's big enough for all of America. Hopefully they all know where to find you...
And the B word shall never be mentioned again, shall it?: ) LOVED this! And my she is an amazingly pretty and inspiring sweet bird!
I LOVE THIS Story! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!It's Twisty Fitzgerald - the prodigal chicken!(I had an e-mail to send you the other day then it got all lost and didn't get sent. I was going through the same 'job' thing, the same day, when I read your blog...so much to talk about...)Cindy Bee
Jayme, you absolutely crack me up sometimes! Loved the ending of the story. You do make me think......Have a great weekend! Teena
OK that was just plain wonderful!!!!!
OMG! I love happy endings! Thanks for sharing yours with me. Hugz!
You funny sweet lady( may I add beauty-fully thin), I wanted to jump up and shout for joy. She knew where to come back to for the best care and love in the world. There will be a very special chicken crown for you in heaven some day, I hope God lets me crown you for your coronation!!
I love this post. Good for Twisty, good for you.
Bravo Bravo BRAVO!!!! i had a chicken living on my house... shhh... we chicken ladys tend to be alittle crazy when it comes to our babies LOL :0)firstname.lastname@example.org
That was the most amazing story, I just love it!Please keep us updated on Twisty, she has the most beautiful feathers!
I almost checked the comments before watching just in case I would not like it. But I was brave. So sorry that your beautiful TF had to go through such trauma and so glad she's home!
I can so relate to Twisty. My own Mrs. Tweedy had the same thing happen. She was missing for 4 days and reappeared worse for wear, but alive. Glad you too had a happy ending. The hawks avoid my yard now for some reason, must be the "jewish lighting" ( no offense intended) that has them falling out of the trees, never to be seen again. They will soon get the message: don't be messing with MY girls!
Oh.. how did I miss this?! Wonderful! Although I was sad for awhile.. what a relief to see that Twisty persevered and returned home. Awesome! She's a beauty also. I've heard other similar tales.. I think the Julie @ Dog Trot? These chickens are amazing, aren't they? love it! -Tammy
