Chicken Porn

You know when you see images of things you'll never have, but you want them?
I call that pornography.
Pottery Barn catalogs fall under this category as well.
Martha Stewart is a great pusher of porn.

This chicken coop is XXX.

After I managed to close my mouth after seeing these pictures, I kept hearing the theme song from 'Chariots of Fire' and seeing the chickens running around this coop in slow motion.
My whole world went into slow motion.

Isn't it beautiful!?

In other chicken news - today on the Martha Stewart show, she's going to be talking about keeping chickens in the backyard for beginners. I've got my DVR set! Don't miss it!

Don't forget to take a gander over at In the Kitchen with the Coop Keeper for a great lemon cake recipe.

*I'll be sharing an update about Aaron this weekend.
I don't think I'll ever be able to convey my appreciation for all of your comments and emails.
It's been so much better the last few days.

  1. Jayme,
Have you ever visited the blog, Life on a Southern Farm? This lovely Georgia couple live on 100 acres and they make the most sturdy chicken boxes you have ever seen. I don't even have chickens and I want one! In any case, they are extremely well made and affordable. I thought you might want to give them a look.

  5. Does it come with A/C and heat? Gracious me...that's better than some people live. I can see why you called it as such...which I won't repeat. LOL.

Glad you are doing better. We all love you so much!

    Have a glorious weekend, friend.

  6. Jaymers,

I can't believe I have missed the last 2 blogs, the one about Aaron, well thank God we talked on the phone. I love him so much. He and I need to talk, this bi-racial thing has got to be why he thought it so funny when I shared with you guys about the afro story that happened to the only mexican in an all white school. Makes so much sense now. I never heard him laugh so hard. Let's get together sometime next week for sure. My ankle is some better so I'm some mobile now. You got a lot of advice but raising my four you know how strict we are and were, more kids need to be raised ol'school like we were, yet with love and much much prayer. I love you both and lets hook up. Ra Oh and love the new blog too!

  7. Yep, it's chicken porn for sure! I explained to Hubby this morning my addiction to food porn sites and he said he knew already...

  8. That chicken coop is fabulous! That would make for some really expensive eggs though. I'm glad you are feeling better. Sometimes it helps just to talk about it.

  9. I told my hubs we could get chickens again if we had a coop like that and he just laughed...

Glad things are going better with Aaron.

  10. OMG, that is WAY too nice to put chickens in. LOL

  11. It is beautiful! But, with all fifteen of my chickens pooping all over it, it would not look that way for long. Ours is red and very simple and the poop mixes in quite nicely. Just joking...we really do try to keep it as clean as possible.

  12. Love this! And, just as we're about ready to start the framework on the new coop. Hmmmm, could I change my mind on the plan at the last minute? I might!

Yes, ma'am, I have my dvr set every day for Martha. Some evenings I just speed through the day's recording (blah blah blah sometimes), but tonight... I will savor every moment :) Chickens... chickens... my favorite topic these days. Thanks, Jayme! -Tammy

  13. Jayme,

If all else fails you can have Glenco build that for you to detain Aaron until he's an adult. (Yes I am kidding. I don't want any of your readers reporting me to DYFS.)

It's the cadillac of coops! But I think to keep it that way you need to limit the tenants to two!

  14. Oh lordy! You are hysterical....I can't say anthing more than that....I love coming here. Stomach hurts from laughing so darn hard! Seriously though, my chickens would think they died and gone to heaven if they got to shack up in a coop like that!!! I'm going to try my hand at the lemon cake, TY. I also left a comment regarding Aaron, rather long so sorry!

  15. It would almost be a shame to put chickens in that lovely coop in uess you only have about 3 birds! The coops we build and sell are cute and practical, and I don't feel TOO guilty about putting 10 hens in it!
Glad things are looking up a bit for you - prayer helps!!!

  16. Ohhhhh, it is PURDY! Obviously, this coop houses "city girls", not the country variety. I really can't show it to my lovely layers or they might start having fantasies of becoming porn stars, and not content with the Hen Hilton they live in now.

  17. La Poulet Chalet or Cluckingham Palace. My little flock are far too nasty to take care in that coop. You would have to clean it daily. My little dirty girls and boys are happy anyway.

  19. Oh, my...I could truly live in that darling white chicken coop!

  21. It's a beauty. I so want chickens, but can't take the thought of cleaning up after them. Why aren't you my next door neighbor again? I need you to be my supplier. And just remember, Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors chicken coop.

  22. Jayme,
that coop jus looks too purty and fancy to put chickens into!
    Hug you,

  23. It doesn't look as though chickens are allowed to live in that chicken palace. Thanks for posting this. Too neat!

  24. I just pulled up Heather Bullard's site last night to show this XXX coop to my Mama! Oh, did she ever swoon.

I wish I would've caught the MS show. But then again, who needs Martha when I have you, Marty!

  26. Wow. That is one awesome coop! We just got 21 new babies to add to our current flock of 13, so we are at capacity. Wonder if I could get My Handyman to built another coop? Let us know (those that don't know how to work a DVR) what Martha has to say about keeping chickens - I think her back yard is WAY bigger than most!
