Giddy

Ladies - I'm giddy.
As in, I may need an adult diaper or two.

It's that magical time of year - the BoyChild is back in school (I don't want to talk about it!) and I'm feeling like tearing the house apart - stick by stick and sanitizing it.

I've got me mops and me brushes!

Tomorrow I start.
I've blocked the entire week out - I've said no to everyone and everything.

It begins.
I know I think I'm going to get way more done that I really will.

I'm pulling a Grandma Clampett and setting the matresses and furniture outside to 'air'.
Law. - I'm serious.

I want to scrub, shine, wax, and restore order.
When the inside is done, I want to do the outside -
Painting, pruning, digging, repairing.

Why?

I don't know.

The furnace kicks on soon and everything will be covered in a layer of dust - but I'm just feeling that coolness in the air - and something internal is telling me to get the nest ready for the long winter's rest.

I'm revamping my weekly schedule for Fall/Winter.

I'm flipping giddy.

You know that feeling when everything is clean, in order, in it's place - you know you don't have a bunch of clutter sitting around?

Ya, me neither.

But I want to.
: -)

Is it something I ate or is anyone else feeling like this?

  2. It is so dry here, it is a dust bowl outside. No cleaning windows here til the crops are in and the bins are full. By then you should be done, so come on over and help me then :)

  3. I start feeling that way about this time of year myself...AND...I just started making a list last night of all I need to get done. It is the farm girl in us, Jayme...getting ready for the long haul of winter! xo Diana

  4. Hi Jayme, I'm so glad I'm not the only one! LOL!! I feel the need every change of season...I like to start with the closets... Every season they get filled up with "stuff" that didn't seem to make it to it's right resting place. When everything is all clean and nice, I feel so much better :o) Have a nice sunday! Hugs, Jennifer

  5. As Dreyfus looked at his mashed potatoes while mounding them "This means something!"
The birds are gathering and the days are shorter. Kids back in school sets off the empty nest syndrome. Exhale the overwhelming need to clean will dissolve with ah cuppa tea. ;-)

  6. Nope, you're not the only one! I'm tackling the front porch at the moment in anticipation of cooler weather! I'm also in a dream state of having no clutter and almost living minimalistic so... step by step and piece by piece I'm gettin' er done! woot! here's to the 'nesters'!

  7. I would like to clean the house, but work comes first right now. I've been canning for winter and getting meals ready in case I have back surgery! Good luck and have fun!!

  8. At 7:30 this morning I cleaned out the cupboard under the sink. I don't know why!

I get very anxious to deep clean at the change of a season. That is actually my plan for Labor Day weekend. Throw open the windows and clean until I drop!!

  9. There is something freeing about having everthing in order! I can breath better! Of course, last time I turned my house upside down I went and had a 7.10 lb baby girl the same night! That may have had something to do with the breathing better too! ;)

  10. Oh I've been feeling that way too, ready for Fall cleaning! We have to get things done early before the late Summer midday temps spike. But little by little....we did some painting, some garage cleaning, some pantry cleaning. I could NEVER work to a list like you have. I'm more a "seat of the pants" kinda gal at this stage in life. But whatever works and makes us happy, right? Happy cleaning!!

  11. I've been the same way too! It must be the feeling of fall in the air. I've been a painting/purging/cleaning fool. law.

  12. No it's nothing you ate. It's the change in weather and shorter days. I've been cleaning windows here at home and I'm getting so bad I do them at work too. People are beginning to talk. Again! Okay people, get the hell out of my way and if I catch any of you touching the windows you're dead meat. Hear me?!

  13. If you finished early I will provide you with MY address and you can come here for a repeat performance!

  14. I wasn't feeling like it, but seeing your diagram...now I am. You've put a bug under me. It'll have to wait till the weekend, though. Thank goodness for 3 days off this weekend!

  15. I like you and your "GIDDY" zest!

In this kind of "fall in the air" weather, I too get the urge to clean, sort, pitch, organize.

It is a good thing, keep going while the cool air surrounds us! And ENJOY each moment.

  16. You are not alone..I'm feeling in the mood to declutter, organize..and clean..clean..clean...

  18. I'm feeling it, Aibs.

Though I have a feeling that your coop doesn't have enough grit to satisfy your itch... Alas, I know of one who does! ;)

  20. I'm feeling the exact opposite!..July and August are our hibernating months for those that stay...come Sept and Oct I will be out in the great outdoors camping with my new (old) trailer..can't wait.

  21. I've got the 'Urge' as well to clean and tidy inside and outside. Feel the need to be tidy before the winter comes. Must be that time of the year!

  22. I'm not there quite yet, Coop. Still a bit pointless until everyone's hay is harvested and the dust lays down a bit. But then, like you said...time for the furnace to make a new mess over everything!
    Job security, right?

  23. Me too...something's in the air! Just dropped the kids off at school and I have 5 hours to plow through my to-do list. I'm taking it room by room, then heading outside next week. Better get off the computer and get started! -Mary

  24. I have been doing this for the past couple of weeks, decluttering, dusting, scrubbing, rearranging. We are coming into my absolute favorite time of year. I love autumn and it just makes me giddy thinking about it...so I get ya!

Only thing is, I might have a hard time dragging my mattress down the stairs, (hey maybe the window would work....LOL)

    xo

  25. I'm right there with you. I'm scrubbing and scouring and mopping like a crazy woman. However, I will not be dragging this king size mattress outside, although I kinda want to!

  26. I am on board with you! I always thought I had an illness because I actually LIKE cleaning. I think it has something to do with my strong desire to have order. Also, I am the type if my "home" isn't in order, my life feels out of order and chaotic.

    Cheers to a great week!

  27. I got the itch, but can't get at the cleaning parts so much as yet. We have finally pushed all the extraneous, horded STuFf out of the four corners of our home and into the living room... It is very scary to see so many boxes of CrAp just piled and piled into the living room. We have painted the hallway to the TV room, and we are now working on the guest room. What a chore! We've been at it for a month. I told Bob that all the stuff has to be dealt with and it will say in the living room until it has been gone through... and it CAN'T go back into the newly cleaned, painted and decorated end of the house. It is time to put it on EBAY, throw it away or give it away! (this includes me and all my junk too, LOL!) I need some breathing space.

P.S. There will be an expose on my blog, you just have to see what we've been up to and all the progress!

  28. Yep...it's in the air! I am feeling it but not sure where to start...lol.
    Good luck!

  29. I revamped my cleaning schedule last week...must be in the air!

  30. Doug cleaned the chimney this past weekend so I will soon tear into that room...curtains will be washed, cobwebs knocked down, cleaned, cleaned, cleaned. We basically don't use the fireplace room in the winter. We are getting ready to paint our bedroom. Law, that will be a chore...moving EVERYTHING out? We're getting new carpet! The only room of the house that has carpet. Have FUN cleaning! xo, Cheryl

  31. Already did the inside of the house. Goodwill loved me last week. Closets, cabinets and draws all cleaned out and re-organized. Everything shiney. I got REAL ambitious this year. this week and next I'm painting the whole outside of the house. Should look nice if I ever get it done!!!!!

  32. Oh Word, I just loaded the back of my jeep with 8 boxes for the thrift store. Gotta whole lot more to get rid of, but some is art supplies I'm wanting to give to someone/some place for, and some I'm just hoping to sell on ebay or craigs list.

I've been going through my crafts and have decided it is time to get rid of my collection of rubber stamps and scrapbooking supplies- neither of which do I ever seem to spend the time to do and they are taking up valuable real estate (to say nothing about the guilt of seeing how much money I've spent on stuff).

Haven't even gotten to the CLEANing part yet.

  33. Yeah...with all this effort we can find out the mystery of the missing pillow. I love a good intrigue but now I NEED to KNOW what happened to that pillow.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I do this too...just loaded three huge bags in the car to take to the thift store...seriously, WHERE does all my cluuter come from? I swear it reproduces on its own. We, hopefully, just had our last day of triple temps, so let the nesting begin!

  35. I love that you sectioned off your yard... brilliant! Why didn't I think of that. You may have just revolutionized my life :)

  36. Been doing this for about a week now, as soon as the shadows start getting longer it's time to get ready for winter...my kids hate it, they both disappear into their rooms

  37. Murphy's Oil Soap!! I have been using Murphy's for...well for a long time. I gave up most chemicals
used for cleaning, but will never give up Murph's. Nothing says "clean house" like that smell.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yep, yep...I got it too. Maybe it has to do with the "going back to school" thing. I'm starting home-schooling next Monday, and I want this house spankin' clean before I plunge into educational intoxication. Clean and organized, so I can teach and delve into higher learning...and drag them along with me. But no airing of the furniture, just moving all around...usually to go back where it started, but, you know: I try.

  39. Well, I wasn't feeling like it til I read your post! Actually, I'm buying paint today to repaint the living room--need a change before cold sets in, might even continue on through to the kitchen, and then, the laundry room. You're a nester, like me. I love it.
