You Might Have ADHD If....

You bring home this many books from the library at once - totally believing you'll read them all in two weeks.

No concept of how long things actually take - a classic symptom of ADHD!

I get all swoony up in the library.
The smell alone makes my heart skip a beat..
The whispering - the possibilities of learning something new...
Free books for the taking?
Areyakiddin' me?
We have Benjamin Franklin for this -
He 'invented' the library.

I'm a kid in the candy store.
I don't understand why they don't have carts as you walk in the library.
Aaron actually put that in the suggestion box.

I've been awfully busy of late - unusually busy -
and yet, unable to really feel that I have anything to show for it.
I feel like a chicken with it's head cut off.

As soon as I post this - I'm off for an exciting adventure of epic proportions!
I see no sleep in my future, and so much talking and laughing I may need some throat lozenges.
Meeting people on the Internet ofttimes has a negative connotation.
There's nothing negative about Janie Fox.
I adore her.
And - her husband has cows.
Perhaps one needs sleeving.

And just to give you an idea how goofy I've been lately - I JUST emailed her and asked her - 'do you live in Indiana or Illinois?'
Yep - and I'm leaving now to go spend the next couple of days with her - and I don't even know what state she lives in.
For real.
I had the street address and the town - but not the state!

I have a question for y'all..
I don't know what to blog about next.
I have only about 593 things I'd like to talk about - but I don't know which one to do first...

The ducks (they're mallards)
A chicken primer.
A gardening primer and a video tutorial of refurbishing a bed..
More videos - of cooking and above subjects.
Video of me splitting my beehive from one into two...
My weight loss (20lbs gone so far!)
ADHD and my journey thus far - BIG changes...
My most fabulous day with Aaron last week -
a pink chicken update -
The opening of my Etsy store...
yadda yadda..
ad nauseum.

I feel like I have so much to say - and really don't know where to begin...

  1. Well, I will read no matter WHAT you talk about- you know that. But I would be really interested in the weight loss journey...as I seem to be struggling to get my weight off- AGAIN!! And, I think the gardening tutorial would be great this time of year...like I said Jayme...you just write and I will read! Have fun no matter what state you end up in! Except I think right now you are in the State of Confusion! I hope your friend gets back to you with her STATE. If she doesn't...well, maybe this trip just wasn't meant to be! xxoo Diana

  4. Hey there! I recently found your blog (I'm also a Hoosier) and you sound so much like me it's scarey!
Before you meet your new friend you might want to leave her name and address with a loved one...you know....just in case you turn up missing! You never know about meeting people online...there's lots of weirdos out there! LOL!
Hi, I'm Milah from My Back Porch. I have a good friend, Christine, from Front Porch Indiana, whom I first met online. It was risky meeting her in person, and we had fun joking about it.... but I'm glad I did. She's kinda like a little sister now...you know... someone fun to pick on. ;D
Anyways, have fun in whatever state your off to....and hope you make it back safely!

  5. Totally understand the book deal. My DIL and I decided our fav place to be locked in overnight would be Barnes and Noble. Almost like heaven. Have bruised both arms carrying out satchels of books. Now they get ordered online and the grandson picks them up. And any ole subject you choose will be read by us faithful readers. Bless you.

  6. I would probably try to discuss them all in one post, and end up feeling like a failure because I didn't.

Have you read Dr. Amen's book about the types of ADHD and how to treat/heal them? Here's a link to the concept: http://www.amenclinics.com/clinics/information/ways-we-can-help/adhd-add/

Apparently one of the reasons people do not think ADHD is a valid diagnosis is that the symptoms are so diverse. Dr. Amen has taken thousands of different brain scans and has determined the six types and their therapies. It is fascinating!

Also, I saw from your stack of books that you have an interest in nutrition, and Dr. Amen combines medication, nutrition and exercise in the program he uses to heal ADHD. Each type seems to have a different therapy course.

I guess you can tell that I have ADHD! As do my daughter, her father, her first husband who is the father of her two girls, who also have ADHD, one also has oppositional defiant disorder.

I am not sure I would want to heal my ADHD. I like who I am with it!

  7. Oh my gosh, all of it...I wanna hear about it all! I can't wait for the opening of your etsy shop! Jayme's Mercantile? I want to buy homemade bee's wax lip balm just terribly so. Falling Cloudberries looks fabulous, I had to check it out on Amazon.

  8. I am all about all of your topics, but the day with Aaron and the etsy store rank up way high on this list.

I hope you have so much fun with your friend. Try not to bring home a cow! (Well, actually, for my entertainment purposes feel free to bring one home.)

  11. I am all ears to whatever you want to talk about..

I pray you have a safe trip there and back. Take lots of picture too!!

    God bless your day~

  12. That many books means you have a wide breadth of interests and are cautiously aware that not every book that you tuck under your arm will be a good one, so it's best to have a back up or two.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

    : )

PS. I totally dig the cart idea.

  13. You are so lucky yu can take out that many books at once. I think you are limited to only 5 at a ime at the one here. I also justlearned that your only allowed 3 on one topic at a time. I rarely go in with a specific purpose in mind and usually just wander around and get what ever catches my eye at that time. Thats why I usually end up with 5 books on 5 different subjects. Last week was the first time I had went in with a subject to look up in the 18 yrs Ive lived here. Learn something new all the time.

  14. My reads are on the internet which I pay for so I git the use of my money ;-)
I was wondering what you've been up to. That is so funny to visit and don't know what state. Hey it jist got overlooked is all. What you should blog next?
    The ducks (they're mallards)
    A chicken primer.
A gardening primer and a video tutorial of refurbishing a bed..
More videos - of cooking and above subjects.

ADHD and my journey thus far - BIG changes...
My most fabulous day with Aaron last week -

The opening of my Etsy store...

Now that's ah challenge eh? I wanna hear it all! Pace yerself now ;-)

  15. Absolutely the Etsy store. A good example of putting yourself first. :-)

  16. ADHD, Aaron and Etsy store in no particular order. Jayme, the sad thing is that I could probably read all those books in two weeks.

Thanks for my diagnosis. This is why I shy away from the library....:)

Have fun meeting your bloggy buddy. Sounds exciting!

  20. You are coming to see my Mom & me! No worries dear friends she's safe in our hands and will no turn up missing!

Just an FYI - we have been teasing Mom that she met you on Match.com! She was so hesitant to start blogging & now she has a real life friend! I love blogs for making friends you'd never meet otherwise!

  21. Oh you are also meeting, Jade, Aubrie, Everett, Ollie, Maggie, Kylie, Caroline, Abbie, & Zac plus multiple hound dogs - prepare to be overwhelmed by the Fox clan!!

  22. I know exactly what you mean about the library! I have been in love with it since I was young and the bookmobile would come to our tiny town every two weeks. That is one of my favorite summer childhood memories. My oldest daughter has been encouraging me to get a Kindle or a Nook, but I want a book in my hand, not an electronic device. I want to go to the library and wander each aisle, and chat with the librarians about the weather. There is nothing like it!

As for what you should blog about next, I would love to see a video of you and Aaron together!

Have a great visit with your blog friend!

  24. Well I have been guilty of checking out a few too many books at one time. Oh well love books! I would love to hear about your etsy store! Traci

  25. I'm so glad to hear that someone else gets bruises from carrying too many books in their bag! My vote- Pink Chicken news!!

Please do the refurbishing of a raised bed first, please! I need to go out and do this soon-so I'd really like to see what your suggestions are!

  28. Hi Jayme,

I always come home with that many books from the library. I use the excuse that in case one of them isn't that good, I have another one ready to go!

Did Glenco tell you I called? I was wanting to actually talk to you about ducks. Oh well....I got some, but....ended up selling them to my farmer girlfriend instead of keeping them. I'm an idiot - the timing is way off. I had a post about it but lost it and it's late and I'm tired and I need rest.

I want you to do a post about making lip gloss so I won't have to go to the library and get 20 books on how to make it!

  29. One of the best things about our little library in Congress, Az is that it does not charge overdue fees!! So it really doesn't matter if you bring them back on time but just for that reason I try! I would like to read about pink chicken and weight loss...and maybe a short one of the Squirrel's plans for this summer...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Fabulous day with Aaron!

    And Janie.

    And then Minnie, of course.

And WHAT is that Sephora book??? Need to know.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Our library doesn't charge over due fees, which is good since I also take out way too many books. But I usually read them all! I love to read that much.

I'm voting for more info about your gardens. I don't really need a how-to. I've been gardening here for 30 years. But I would love to see your gardens at different stages and see what you like to plant.

That being said, I know that I would enjoy reading anything you decide to write about. (Doesn't that make you feel good!) Have a good time on your visit.

  32. So...um...are you insinuating that it's WRONG to bring home that many books from the library? Or insinuating that I have ADD too?! :) I do the same thing...all the time...and I skim them...until one catches my eye to actually READ. So bad...

    ReplyDelete
  33. I do the same flipping thing with library books! I never think when I am getting books. Or rather, I think. I think that I can read 20 books on varying topics in just 14 days : )

    ReplyDelete
  34. You are always entertaining but I really want to hear about the pink chicken.

I have the same problem at the library. I always get too many books. Thing is, I let everything slide and read all the books - no matter how many!

  36. I'm right there with ya on the library. LOVE BOOKS!
I live in Franklin, MA, home of the first public library thanks to Ben Franklin's donation of books. I've been meaning to take pictures of the building and the book display to send to you now that I have my new camera and can do them justice. One day...
BTW, I have been a lurker for many months now and LOVE your blog. Your videos crack me up and helped me get thru the dreary NE winter. I'm a Southern transplant. While I applaud your Pink Chicken philosophy, I am SO glad you have internet. :-)

  37. I want to read about ALL of it!
    Have a great week!

  38. Oh Jayme, I vote for the Etsy store (I have one too!) and splitting the bees!!! (It's all your fault I'm interested in bees, after all!) And any videos of anything--love your videos and I'm making your bread starting tonight! AND if you are ever near upstate NY you can come visit our farm!! xo Cait

  39. I have to stop myself at the library. I limited to two or three books as they are like crack for me :)

  40. You've got some interesting titles there. I think I'll be looking for a few of them. Blog posts? Gardening. It's that time of year. Pink chicken update is good. Aaron is always fun. Anything you want to video is fun, too. :) And have a load of fun in IN or IL...wherever you end up. :-D ~~Rhonda

  41. I vote 'most fabulous day with Aaron'. Your stack of books is the reason I try to avoid going to the library. I'm just like you...all those colorful book covers, those interesting topics, a brand new book that no one else has checked out yet! I think the suggestion of a cart is a good idea, but better yet, one of those plastic baskets that stores have stacked near the door if you're just stepping in for a few items. Those would work perfectly. Have a great time with your new friend. I'll have to see who she is.

  42. Did she say, "nite livie" when you went to bed???? If so, I'm jealous! If not, we're still friends! ;)

Hope you had fun! Why don't you talk about your trip? Then...I need motivation to get my garden planned. I wanna do something this year besides plant the same ol' things. Motivate me, ifyawill!

  43. Yikes, that's even more books than me. But then my kids have taught me that most of my reading time will be for the under ten crowd or under 100 oword mag articles... Loved your choices and am struggling imagining *you* giving up gluten (or sugar)... I'm gluten free, and gave up coffee for lent, but sugar no way. Kill me now.
    My votes ~
    Aaron fabulous day
    ADHD
    Etsy
    Bees
    anything ad nauseum by you!

  44. I do that too. I don't know if the Library loves me or hates me.... I keep them employed and they are always busy re-shelving the books I return. Hmmmm.....
But as bad as I am, my sister is worse. She wheels her rolly suitcase in there to pack all her books in... I kid you not!
Hope you are having a wonderful get-away!

  45. Gardening...your garden last year was spectacular! I'd love to know some...heck, any...of your secrets!

Then, Aaron. I miss hearing about him!
