A recent conversation:
Jayme: Lord? Excuse me - you there?
God: Yep, right here Jayms, what's up?
Jayme: Why is it that everysinglestinkin' time I leave the house without making the bed, or doing my chores, that I get unexpected company?
God: Well, Jayme, I'm really working on you.
Jayme: Why?
God: I want you to not care.
Jayme: Oh - well, how am I doin'?
God: Well, not so good, dear.
Jayme: Does this mean - it's gonna keep happening?
God: 'laughs' - Yep.
Jayme: Great.
God: People come to see you - not your house.
Jayme: But what am I without the house, the garden?
God: Mine.
I LOVE THIS, IT'S SO TRUE, THIS IS AWESOME, SEND IT TO THE CHRISTIAN MAGS AND TO THE HEAD OF FAMILY CHRISTIAN STORES. EVERY WOMAN SHOULD HAVE THIS HANGING IN HER HOUSE TO REMIND HER OF BALANCE. LOVE YOU TO PIECES GIRL. XOXOXOX
ReplyDeleteJayme, this is me down to a T. How did you know?
ReplyDeleteJayme, I have had this conversation many times with God. But you wrote it down beautifully. Have a great weekend, and enjoy any unexpected guests.

If only I could get this absorbed into my being, dear friend, I'd be a lot less stressed!
ReplyDeleteYour funny
ReplyDeleteVery good. Very true. I never get a visitor when I have straightened and cleaned my house. And when my mom in love comes by she always brings a friend and wants to show them my house. Once out our previous home she did that when I was at work and hubs let her take them through. Unmade bed, a pile of dirty cloths, oh man I was a little upset. I just posted some new pics of the feathered ladies. Have a great holiday weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat was beyond any words I could ever express. Thank you Jayme!
ReplyDeleteSweet. It is you not your house or garden but I must admit I am in love with you house and garden...but it is you that creates the beauty. It come from within you. You are the best.
ReplyDeleteI am off to Hawaii tomorrow for my granddaughter's high school graduation cememony and celebration. Lot of fun.
Have a great weekkend.
Dogwood
Awwwww. I love it...
ReplyDeleteYes..You are God's.
Everywhere you go you scatter little seeds of goodness for others, leave their world a little bit brighter than it was before you got there, and spread some sunshine. Life's about people....
Hugs to you. Have a great weekend.
Excellent!!
ReplyDeleteJayme,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this sweet glimpse into your beautiful soul.
Your Friend,
Deborah
Amen.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll be back. Maybe I'll call, and maybe I'll just drop by. Who am I to thwart God's plan after all?
And maybe you weren't even talking about me today.
I came to see Y.O.U., not examine one little thing. But I will confess, I coveted a few of your plants! :)
And I'm HIS too! {HE musta said "GO" today, b/c I didn't hesitate when little Miss woke up!}
hugs.
Girl - you KNOW I totally get this. I love it! It goosebumped me. I'm thinking He has good reason to release us from some of our silly pride. At least that's how I keep feeling, lately.
ReplyDeleteI do hope that God gives you a free pass on your vacuuming compulsion. We all need some type of a non-threatening fix, right?
OUCH!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, He works in our lives everyday. As hard as we try to be "perfect" it's just not gonna happen! You're pretty close though! When I look at all the joy and laughter you spread, laziness is not in the mix! Loving the new Coop on Facebook!
ReplyDeleteWow! That last line brought tears.
ReplyDeletehi jayme,
ReplyDeletei burst into tears when i read this post. this is sooo me, worrying about my house, my garden, making it all pretty and perfect, and in all the busyness of that, sooo forget this incredible truth about god. thank you soo much for your insight and humor. your conversation with god reminds me of conversations mack had with god in "the shack." have a greaaaat weekend!
love ya,
peggy
Brillant!
ReplyDeleteThis post is greatness!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend and leave that bed unmade.
Jayme I've been reading your blog and laughing and crying with you for a while now. I have to say this is one of my favorite blogs EVER. Thank you for sharing yourself so selflessly!
ReplyDeleteYou could play a trick on god and invite the devil for dinner, just to pay him back!... LOL!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hopefully an unmade bed!!
Hugs,
Barb
Jayme, I actually got a little misty eyed over this! I am so ashamed of being so paranoid!
ReplyDeleteSo true! But if folks can't get through the door, they cannot visit, so there must be some cleaning involved!
ReplyDeleteHi Jayme - found your blog at Homestead Revival. I really like your blog and all your beautiful photos! And I love today's post - sounds like me, too.
ReplyDeleteI did some reading back and I read about your heart arrythmia. Magnesium, huh? I've had an arrythmia all my life, tachycardia, and I finally had cardiac ablation last spring, and it has practically cured me. What I wanted to say is that I totally understand your fear each and every time you have some irregular heartbeats.
If you'd like to visit more about it, please come by for a chat at my blog or you can email me! Your gardens are absolutely beautiful! I always believed I was born in the wrong century, too... sigh ...
Sounds like a great conversation! :)
ReplyDeleteJayme- Recently a friend shared a saying her momma always used when I warned her my house was not guest ready..."If you are coming to see me...come anytime. If you are coming to see my house...make an appointment."
ReplyDeleteThis was like God talking to me! Thank you! Yes, we are His! And that should be enough, but sometimes I forget!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!!!! This is a post I should print out and hang on my bathroom mirror. Thank you, Jayme.
ReplyDeleteJayme, haven't had time to visit much in the last few weeks. Busy spring! Your blog was the first stop! LOVE THIS POST! Made me laugh. We finally had a night home, dishes not done, kitchen not pulled together and we had a drop in!!! I laughed out loud when I saw them drive in. Looking forward to catching up on your previous posts!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS. I think just about every woman I know could replace "Jayme" with their name, and hang it up! Cindy
ReplyDeleteThis made my heart smile. And like other commenters, I too have had this conversation with the Good Lord a time or twelve myself. He often reminds me that my imperfection and my need for Him is a testament to His grace and love to those that are watching. And like I tell my son about flaws and messes and imperfections, "Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind." <3
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to keeping up with your blog. I'm over at whimsysmitten.blogspot.com.
Thanks for the reminder, today, that it matters less who I am than whose I am.
I've been busted so many times by unexpected company, and it used to bother me so much. Now, I'm better at letting people see the real me....I want to be genuine and not fake perfect. It's a constant struggle though! Thanks for the creative reminder to keep our focus where it needs to be.
ReplyDeleteBloody good point.
ReplyDeleteYUP!!!!
ReplyDeleteannie
Oh, and what happened to the cut back, slow down a little mode???
ReplyDeleteGod might be showing you a little pattern here!????

ReplyDeleteOMG you have no idea how much that touched and how it spoke to me. I have not had family to my house in 2 years because it is not perfect. My son is graduating 8th grade and I cannot decide whether I have family over and I feel guilty for depriving my son. Thanks and God Bless.
