This Isn't Funny....

Just letting you know I'm down with a severe toothache this weekend, hence the lack of posts.
Oh, I wish I could make this funny, but I can't. I'm getting chipmunk cheek, I think it must be abscessed. This was not planned in the budget.

So far I've had 3600mg of Ibuprofen and I'm still in pain.

I called the dentist, and of course, he's not in, and I didn't want to bother him on the weekend. It's the same dentist I've gone to for 20 years, and I know he would have dropped everything to help me, but I just couldn't bother him on the weekend! I figured I could handle it until Monday morning.

I'm stubborn.

And of course, you know me well enough by now to know, that the dentist is an event.
I have to take Xanax before I go.
He says hello, and straps on the nitrous.

Glen keeps wanting to tie a string around it and yank.

Oh my heavens, I keep thinking about Tom Hanks in Castaway.

I need some of these drops.
I'll be back in the blogosphere as soon as I can.
My camera will be back tomorrow!

10:00pm update....
I'm crying. I've never felt anything like this.
I called the dentist.
I've got antibiotics.
I've taken three vicadin.
I've never given birth....but think I know what it feels like now.
Thanks for all your concern and sweet comments.

  1. I'm so sorry about your toothache! I know that can be very painful. I bet the dentist wouldn't have minded coming in on the weekend for you. I would go ahead and call if it gets worse. Take care.

  2. It's incredible how one teeny tiny bone can cause a world of hurt. My wisdom tooth became abscessed a few years ago, and of course it happened over a Friday/Saturday. By Sunday I couldn't open my mouth to eat and could barely talk. My cheek was swollen huge. The removal of the tooth was necessary and, once that proceedure was over and I had a little more Ibuprofen and my mother in law's copy of the 6-hour BBC Pride and Prejudice, I was good to go.

I sure hope you're able to see your dentist tomorrow and he can put you out of your misery. No fun.

  3. That is definately not funny! Uh, there is nothing worse than a toothache....I hope Monday comes quick for you and you are back to your funny self in no time :o).

  4. Oh sweetie, call the dentist. If your face is swelling you definetly have an abscess, and he would not want you to be in severe pain all weekend long.

  5. Ouch...so sorry you are having pain! I hate going to the dentist. Take care of yourself and get to the dentist first thing Monday morning...

The good thing is that you probably don't feel like eating...so weight loss!

  6. Jayme, you can get relief in about 2 minutes!! I know you have a bottle of Hydrogen peroxide, put a swig of it in your mouth, hold it where the tooth hurts for a few seconds till the tooth stops hurting. Spit it out and gargle with warm salt water. Have your salt water ready before you do the peroxide. I was taught this years ago by a denist who would not pull absessed teeth because of the danger of the poison getting in the bloodstream. Do this every couple of hours and the absess will go away I kid you not! Let me know how you do ?? :)

  8. An abcessed tooth is dangerous to mess around with , go as soon as you can. Life threatening in some cases.

  9. Oh no, I will be praying for you! But please consider calling the dentist and asking for an antibiotic, he won't do a thing until the infection is over. Take care my country friend.

  10. You poor thing. I hope you can get in right away tomorrow. These things *never* happen during the week, do they!

  12. Well no wonder housewives in the 1800's were happy...they could get cocaine drops for 15cents!! :) HAHA! I do hope you'll see the dentist soon. Toothaches are so miserable! (((hugs))) But I hear you...the dentist is my least favorite. Dare I say the OBGYN is a miserable visit too...but I'd take that over the dentist! Yuck!! Warped, I know.

  14. I'm with you on the gas at the dentist. They don't touch me even for a cleaning until they have swabbed all my gums with their yummy numbing agent.

Sorry about your pain..... Hope all goes well on Monday. I will think of you while I am having my boobs smashed at my annual mammo. Sure wish I could numb those puppies prior to the smashing. LOL

  15. Oh dear... Get well, you!

ps: please never wait when there is such pain and swelling, an infection is quickly spread and you could get seriously ill, plus it's a lot more work and pain to heal when it's spread and multiplied!

  16. Ah bummer. I think tooth pain is akin to little toe stubbing pain. Such a small part of the anatomy, but such a BIG HURT!

Feel better soon....I found you a belated b-day gift, and will bring it when I come. Less than 2 weeks!

  17. Poor thing! You should call him and he'll order you up a prescription that will make you feel a lot better until you can go in...

  18. First of all...be careful about the Motrin..you are very near if not over the limit for 24 hours.
Secondly, you need an antibiotic ....they won't pull it if it is infected.
You should go to the emergency and get an antibiotic, and pain meds.......really.....honest. You should.

  20. So sorry you are in pain - get some antibiotics and be pain free soon!

  21. I'm so sorry you are in so much pain, toothaches are the absolute worst. You should go get some antibiotics, otherwise the dentist may not be able to do anything for you. I had an infected tooth once, and all the shots in the world wouldn't get the area numbed. Good luck!!!

  22. Jayme,
saying a prayer that this will NOT be drawn out for you. That it will be handled as quickly as possible.
be waiting to hear that you are on the mend and the tooth is OUT!!!!!
Helen would whisper to you that this is why grubs and grit are so awesome....you don't need teeth!!!
    Get better! :-)

  23. I'm sorry! And I'm usually the opposite. I actually, if you can believe it, relax in the dentist's chair.

  24. Heavenly Father,
Thank you for my friend Jayme, I ask that you touch her and heal her from the top of her head to the soul of her feet. Free her from infection and pain. Give her peace and bless her with rest. In Jesus Name
    Amen

  25. Amen.

I had an absess 2 years ago.
Doctor won't touch it till infection is under control.
DO the hydro peroxide and warm salt water. And get the antibiotocs.

    Eat choclate for the headache.

  26. I've never had one of these, but I'm kinda in agreement with some of the others; I wouldn't mess with this. I'm thinking Hilary is right. Hope you get this taken care of sooner rather than later.

    Be well ~Andrea~

I hope you are sleeping soundly and the dentist is able to end this agony first thing in the morning.

  29. Jayme, I had an abcessed tooth when I was young and the pain was unbearable. The doctor would not touch it until the swelling went down. Hope you feel better soon. Cynthia

  32. Good day, sun shines!
There have been times of hardship when I didn't know about opportunities of getting high yields on investments. I was a dump and downright stupid person.
I have never thought that there weren't any need in large starting capital.
Now, I'm happy and lucky , I begin take up real money.
It gets down to select a correct partner who uses your funds in a right way - that is incorporate it in real deals, and shares the income with me.

You can get interested, if there are such firms? I'm obliged to answer the truth, YES, there are. Please be informed of one of them:

  37. Oh, bless your heart!!! I have given birth, one of them being very long and very painful and it doesn't compare to an abscessed tooth! I would rather give birth ten times than go through that.

  38. Oh my, I'm so sorry you are in pain. I sure hope you get to eventually get an ice cream bar, just like I think Alfalfa enjoyed in that episode of the "Toothache." ;)
