You're Killin' Me

Landsakes alive.
Law and mercy.
You guys are killin' me with the comments.

I started laughing today thinking I should just say my blog was hacked, or I needed a good ego stroking.
: -)
And then I started rrrrreeeaalllly missing you guys and feeling sad over stopping.

So this is what I've been thinking.
I've become boring.
I'm not funny anymore.
I have nothing to say.
Bleh.

Life is ever evolving.  No one is always funny, no one is always insightful, etc.
I'm seriously going through a bad case of the empty nest - and I was/am concerned that I might end up spending way too much time online.  It concerned me, because I really don't want to do that - and yet - last week I had planned on completely redesigning the blog and blogging everyday.

Can you hear the pendulum swinging?
Am I nuts, or what?

I started feeling concerned that it wasn't real life - and yet Janie Fox, whom I met via the blog is up here on my couch.  That's pretty real.  I felt like I didn't spend enough time with my sisters and 'real' friends, but took the time to be here.

Get what I saying?

I'm sighing deeply over here - for real.

Janie Fox and I got the flipping mother lode at the thrift stores today and we are completely revamping the upstairs bedroom.  I felt sad that I couldn't share that with you.

Aaron called me from 'Veh-gus' and told me all about his haircut by 'Fern the Barber' - inspired by a skyline - and how he got to meet and  assist Robert Cromeans- and I thought - dang it - you guys would want to know.

So here I sit blogging again, eh?

So where are we?  Is Carol singing and tuggin' on her ear, or is she coming out in her fabulous Bob Mackie dress and starting the monologue?

I haven't a clue.

  1. Well, I didn't want to bug you about it but I cannot tell you how disappointed I was when I read your "farewell" post! So maybe cut back a little and just post when the mood strikes. Truly, I love reading about Aaron and the chickens and your healthly lifestyle and the garden and camping and...

  2. Blog Without Obligation... B.W.O. Don't feel obligated to post everyday or everything, just when you feel like it. If you stay I will be happy for you, if you go I will be happy for you. :-)

  6. I would love for you to continue blogging if not on a set schedule but as time and inspiration allows. Not to burden you or diminish other parts of you life but I have come to really enjoy what you share and your perspective. I have a long list of blogs in my reader but when I see a new entry from you pop up I read it immediately. Not sure I can even fully put into words what you add to my world specifically but you definitely add something positive.

  7. Well, well, well . . . got a bit of the mojo back, huh? I too wonder about the time this word B. L. O. G. involes and then my mind clicks into but . . . this . . . and that . . . and what about . . . and I wonder, how can I "close the book.". EVER . . . . .

I am thrilled you are reconsidering, . . . like most of us, any relationship ebbs and flows, our relationship with self, does the same.

I hope you'll continue to be "Just Jayme" . . . whatever, whenever, however that happens to be . . .
You are loved, for just that!

  9. So happy you are considering not totally giving it up yet! I was so bummed to read you last post:( I understand having your plate full and needing to scrape something off but you would be truly missed by many. I love hearing about your adventures in life your so real and honest its very refreshing!!! Write when you feel inspired that is what makes it special to you and us :) I know your an all or nothing person but maybe look at the blog as an exercise in going with the flow when you feel like it instead of putting yourself on a blogging schedule??

  10. Dear Jayme,
Just do it a day at a time.....there is no need nor is there any rule that you have to decide FOREVER.
You don't have to be so black/white. Why not just blog whenever the hell you WANT to....and don't blog whey YOU don't want to.
    Works for me.
And is guaranteed to make you happy....doing it your way.

There's a lot of love out here. Just sayin.

Welcome back...I hope and I am a bit afraid to see that hair cut????!!!!

  15. Praise BE! Jayme, you have brought a group of strangers together! You have made the impersonal internet into a coffee "klatch" for so many of us out here! I don't want you to be funny all the time! I just love how real you are: bumps, valleys and mountain tops! You are loved and appreciated for your honesty and bravery for being who you are in a world where people hide behind a computer screen. You are a leader and you are loved!

  17. You have entertained. Whether or not you realize that. At this point however I don't believe peeps are checkin on your site for a laugh, I think they are just checkin in on you, see how you're doing. This is your blog and to use as you see fit, even if you choose not to post anymore. I am new here, but I read all your posts, and I like your blog, just had to say that :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well, I don't care it is daily, or weekly, or bi-weekly, or monthly or whatever....you just keep on dishing up what you can when you can....cuz you know I love your old soul! xo Diana

  19. Oh, I love you. And trust me, you are definitely not boring. And we are real out here... wherever we may be. (At least I think we are... I am...) I would say, do it when the urge hits. And keep us informed about Aaron, the chickens, the squirrel and your various adventures. I understand the empty-nest syndrome! My kids left years ago and I still find myself wandering around the house muttering that I need to get a life. It's going to be okay!

  20. She is coming out in her fabulous Bob Mackie dress and starting the monologue. ;) Here is what I have observed in "blog land." If I visit your blog and comment then "proper" blog etiquette says you have to come to my blog and at least leave a comment. Honestly, that is how you could spend hours online. I understand this if someone is using their blog as a business but not for the average person just wanting to write about their goings on. I personally think "YOU" should do what "YOU" want and forget the pressure of doing what others want you to do (even though I want you to continue to blog!! ;) but that is neither here nor there.) I personally find your life interesting and after reading always feel inspired and with a smile on my face. So, do what you must... :)

  21. Well good...I've been snapped out of my depression! Glad to hear you're rethinking...revamp, rework, relax more, but don't leave us! No, truly...follow your heart and know that we've loved all we've read along the way. You've been a joy to follow...I've always walked away with a good laugh or a lesson learned. Thanks so much. -Mary

  22. I'm always a day late (or a week late) reading posts... say it ain't so!!! I know, I ran out things to say a long time back and here I am still posting drivel. Lately I've been doing the re-post and that's the beginning of the end! One thing about not blogging is that I can go back to READING blogs and that's what I really liked! Here I am in my advanced years with not a minute to call my own! Well, if you are here when I come back I'll be glad but if you're not, you've left a mark on the INTERNETS! We can just re-read old posts and it's still funny! Don't say goodbye though...

  23. Seriously jealous and I am not piled up one the couch with y'all. I'm just saying...

  24. Amen, sister!!!......

and I got a bone to pick. NOT REAL LIFE??? Woman.. you have inspired people to take better care of themselves, you've shown them it can be done. And Aaron is one of our own, don't ya know. We worry when you worry, we cheer when you cheer.

Fine. Go. That's what I wanted to say when I read yesterday's post.. but I'd be stealing one of your hilarious quips.

So just hush about THAT, ok? Law.

  25. WOOP! WOOP! I totally get the "real" relations part. I do have a FB acct but have deleted everybody except those I normally talk with via phone, text, visits in person etc. I dont want to know "about" people, I want to KNOW them! so.. I get that part. I have a friend in WV that I met through my blog. We send each other emails, greeting cards, etc and at some point may even meet in person, who knows? So glad you have decided to stay at blogging a while longer! And yes we all wanted to know about Aarons exciting hair cut, as well as your upstairs room!

Love you to the moon and back again!

PS....I would wonder for the rest of my days about the boy/child. He is going to be an amazing man and I don't want to miss it!

  38. Oh my stars and garters...The Chicken Lady..Muscle Woman...Country Gourmet Diva...Gardener Divine...Helene of the Stars...Thrifter Sista...Quitting??? SAY IT AINT SO! *(hey I took a break from July to November) But I came back...fully intended to come back...Blogging is just a place to go and share. Record in your e-journal. Inspire others. Cry about a hard place in the path. Sisters....online. I know. It's not Face to Face. And it should NEVER EVER take the place of that. What's reality and what's virtual reality...well - two different worlds...they can't compare. But if you can work both of them into your life, and reach others in BOTH places...priorities in order, yes maam...then just blog when you have something you want to say. It's so cool to be able to look back a year ago and see where you were, what you had to say...and then note the changes in your life. :-) :-) Hugs to you. I hope you will get it all lined up and in a row. And I hope that means you will still blog. I do. :-) (hugs) to you. Stay Warm, and thanks for popping in !!! xo

  39. Oh thank goodness, I'm so glad you changed your mind. I love your blog, and I don't want it to become a drag for you, so just do it when the karma is right.
You too, Janie Fox, love your blog too!

  40. Oh my, I have to admit that I was sad when I realized that I will never be able to return to the LL website - won't see you there. I was sad when I realized when you left facebook and I wouldn't see you there. Then I was ultra sad when you decided to stop blogging. I've been very quietly cheering you on with living the lifestyle, your parenting (Aaron, Jax, and the chickens), and the happiness and success you have found.

Dang, I even subscribed to your blog.

So Jayme, regardless of your decision. I stand here in Lake Zurich cheering you on to happiness and success in your life. You deserve it! I loved it when our paths crossed in Rockford and Gurnee. You're a doll.

  41. I check in, don't usually comment since I said your cottage cheese concoction looked a little nasty (I have worried I had hurt your feelings on that one and felt bad, sometimes I don't have a filter)

Anywho, your blog is the first blog I ever followed and really the only one I regularly keep up on. You inspired me into chicken keeping, blogging and to actually embrace laundry (how could I not after your laundry day video)

I am glad you are going to stick around. Everyday isn't a day full of sun shine. Sometimes it is nice to read that too, what I guess you would call the bones of life. I am very happy you decided to pull the plug on your disconnect.

  42. Well blow me down. . . I haven't been checking in as often, because, because, because I'VE BEEN SEW BUSY SHOPPING FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY PRESENT!!! Sew I stop in tonight, la di da, annnnd annnnd WOT!!
Fortunately, I read today's blog before I read Sundays blog. . .whoaaa nelllie. . .no tellin what could have happened. . . I could have choked to death on my coffee or fell off my chair hit my head on the coffee table and bled to death, or hell I could have had a massive heart attack, (hellooo my cholesterol is high and I'm not real faithful with my meds) shhhheeezzz Jaymster can't ya just take hormone supplements, ya killin me. . .

I admit, I got choked up, my heart broke, but Carol Burnett. . . Carol Burnett, really Jayme, Holy Mother of God, now the real tears, (I know, I'm a bit sensitive, and it is January and all) buuut you're not a blogger, you're not a coop-keeper, you're real, you're our friend, the person we love, I've had sew many cups of coffee with you, so much joy, so many laughs, so many tears, Helene, and the disappearing cinnamon bun, and the infamous walk in the snow, I laugh just thinking of it, just this morning as I was folding my jeans, (with safety pins on the hem) I thought, I have to go look at Jaymes tutorial on sewing jean hems. . . I just love you so.

Hey, if you try and get rid of us again,(only kiddin, I understand, I do, life goes on, everything changes, and I surely understand) but just in case, you could always go with Bob Hopes "Thanks for the Memories" that would probably send me right over the edge Ü. . . or you can just stick around and we could all grow old together. xo(((((jaymster))))

  44. ROFLMAO at what Nancy just said! Jayme, girl, like PJ said, BWO. When you want to and what you want to. Lord, it's winter. Everyone gets the blehs in winter. We just love you and don't want to think we have to spend the rest of our days without a word or two from The Coop Keeper, once in a blue moon.

  45. Yes! What they all said! I am doing the Happy Dance! Sure was bummed last night, but I am feeling better now.
It was nearly 70 here today and I am sure some of our Texas sunshine and mild temps would snap you out of the winter blues...
Don't know how you could think you aren't funny anymore. I am still laughing over the "My vagina has its own drawer in the bathroom" line!

  47. Jayme,
Many of us have become your friend (or wanna-be friend) through this blog. We'll take what we can get. No worries :) It also occurs to me that Aaron may benefit from your blogging (especially since my recent haircut can't hold a candle to the great haircut he gave you)! He might get his big break both because of his talent and from your posts.

  48. Jayme, I didn't see your previous post regarding "early retirement", and I don't check your blog every day because you are a bit willy nilly irregular in your posts, but I would miss them so if you did up and quit!!! Please don't! This almost 50 year old in California needs you. You inspire, encourage and make me laugh out loud. Please stay. Say you will!
