We just had a bad storm roll through.
You can still hear the thunder rumbling in the background in this video.
It's a mess here!
Our old apple tree has been uprooted.
Our patio table is destroyed.
My back yard perennials seem destroyed - I'm hoping they'll spring back.
Carnage every where.
Traumatized chickens.
We are all safe.
We are all thankful.
My heart is still broken over my garden - but I guess I take this lesson from it all -
Things that I think are really important, really aren't.
They can be taken in a minute.
In the wake of Joplin, I hate to complain.
Lesson taken, but I'm still whining like a two year old over the state of my garden, and I shall for the days to come.
Praying for you! We live in Northeastern Ohio and have tornado warnings in our county at the moment! You are in my thoughts!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad everyone is okay. That must be scary. I'll think of you whilst I'm complaining about the state of my garden.
ReplyDeleteAs long as you and the family are okay the other stuff can be replaced!! Go be the chicken whisperer and calm the girls down. The other things can wait. Be careful out there girl!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are safe and you and your house and Toto were not taken away. Seriously, could have been MUCH worse.
ReplyDeleteDi
Glad you are OK and your house is still standing! Your perennials will spring back. They always do!! :)
ReplyDeleteGood heavens. Glad you (and chickens) are safe.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to know that you are okay, Jayme.
ReplyDeleteOH Jayme-How sad and scary! You are right though. Some of the things that we think are so important mean nothing in the bigger scale of life. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThank goodness you're all okay. But wow, your garden :( "I can't have anything" shall be my motto in days to come. My hubs will grow very weary of this line ;) We all feel this way sometimes. I feel that way a lot! (Even though I have nothing real to complain about) Loved the video, but so sorry about your garden! I have lotsa faith in you, Jayme.. you will thrive (and so will your garden w/ much TLC). -T
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are safe. I am still mourning over our hail damage. I threw out some seeds today hoping some will come up and make me happy. I hate to go buy anything w the crazy weather we have been having. Going to St Louis for surgery this week so gotta get everything in under trees. Hotter than heck today. Loved seeing your skinny self on the video!!
ReplyDeleteJamie thank goodness you all are okay! Poor chickens! It was 100 here again today and thunder like crazy, but that was all! Weird weather! We were blessed. Take care and don't worry much about your garden(easier said, huh?) Love you! Loretta
ReplyDelete1. I am so glad you are alright.
ReplyDelete2. We need to work on your southern accent.
3. I think Aaron is the cutest thing.
4. I went to a farm today with chickens that had no names. For shame. I named one Henrietta.
5. Maybe the whole torn up garden thing is to try and get you to slow down. Or keep you busy. Whichever.
6. I love the video.
xxoo
Oh goodness, Relieved to know you all are okay, that is the main important things. The chickens and animals okay? How is the Squirrel, is it okay?
ReplyDeleteGood to see you all cuttin' up...Hey, look at this way, you have a whole lot of firewood now.
I always end with "God Keep You All Safe", Well... he did just that.
It's still lightening & thundering here... rolled through here as well, I was working in the ER and we were starting to get water in the hospital before we left... what a doozy... the hail was pretty big too... uprooted trees and power lines... YIKES.
ReplyDelete"Things that I think are really important, really aren't.
ReplyDeleteThey can be taken in a minute."
Things that are the most important aren't things and they can be taken in a moment. Thank God you are safe and spared the devastation Joplin and other areas have experienced. Don't despair, your perennials will return.
What a scare.
Your Friend,
Deborah
I live where Scribe lives. It started storming at 5:30. It's almost 9:00 p.m. and it's still storming. We were going to go out tonight but changed our minds. I heard it's a mess out there.

Your garden will come back ... it's stronger than you think!
ReplyDeleteso glad you are fine and maybe your garden will spring back. you are right it really doesn't matter in the long run.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Mercy! I'm so glad you guys are OK and that tree didn't fall on a passing car.
ReplyDeleteI hope your garden comes back... and it's OK to whine a bit. Lots of hard work goes into a garden and it's tough to see it destroyed or looking rough! So go ahead... whine a bit! or maybe wine a bit, that might work too! (Just don't overdo it! *laugh*)
So glad you are ok...
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your garden..
I feel your pain..
prayin'
So happy you all are alright.
ReplyDeleteYikes!! Glad your family and livestock are okay! So sorry about the flowers though- I understand completely!
ReplyDeleteI hate it when the trees fall down. We have lots that can go... too many to clear. I just hope they miss the house. Hope you will have a good time planning and planting your "new" garden. Good excuse to spend some time at the nursery and get some new plants. Or maybe visit the neighbors and ask for cuttings... beg? Take some video of the begging and cutting.
ReplyDeleteHope that things are not as bad in the garden as originally thought. I've followed your blog for sometime and always love when you share photos of your garden and know very well how much time, energy and love you pour into your own Eden. So glad you all are safe. Don't lament, we all have our two year old moments. Take care!
ReplyDeleteTomato plants vs. hail and wind and tree branches...aughhh. Glad you are safe. our power came back on early this am! jan
ReplyDeleteToo close for comfort, glad you are all ok. I bet the flowers come back, the rest can be replaced with insurance money. That's what we pay those big bucks for every year. We had a hard freeze three years ago that took all the leaves off the trees and killed everything coming up...in no time the trees had put on new leaves and it all came back thicker and prettier than before. Mother Nature is pretty resilient! Stay safe sweetie!
ReplyDeleteMother Nature sure does flare with that temper of hers! Everyone always looks at Mother Nature as being this gentle gal, all peaceful and good natured… but she can be a total B. She must have forgotten to take her meds!
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone's okay. We had some pretty nasty storms move through here (southeast of you) after it hit your area. Lights were out a couple times, and thank goodness our trees stayed firmly rooted in the backyard. We've got some gigantic old oaks on this place and if they go, we'll know it… if we survive them, that is. :)
Oh wow Jayme! We were suppose to get it here....we buttoned down the hatches and got all the critters in their barns, but by the time it reached us it went north and south of us. Thanks goodness you and hubby and the chickens are ok....I understand how sad you are about your garden though!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you made it through the storm safe and sound. It's a crazy year weather wise...
ReplyDeleteGlad you are safe...wonder what the county will do now?
ReplyDeleteOh Aibie.... I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteShame about your garden, but it is surprising how strong the will to grow is amongst all living things, and you might be happily surprised at how much has actually survived. Hope so anyway.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you and the fam are okay Jaymes, and I totally understand your garden angst. I'm already having pre-wedding hail storm panic attacks. Sounds like a fabulous way to expend my emotional energy, yes?
ReplyDeleteIf I lived closer, I'd be there helping you clean up. You know I would.
