This is such an educational blog.
A great can filler would be these delicious Chocolate Raspberry (yes Shannan, raspberry) Cookies. It's a Paula Deen recipe, ya'll. Get it here. It's got two sticks of butta!
What do you do when you totally thought you had a small heart shaped cookie cutter, and you find out that you don't?
You improvise.
You talk yourself into thinking that it's totally ok to have round shortbread cookies on Valentine's Day.
They do NOT look like Ritz crackers....stop saying that.
These cookies are incredibly, unbelievably good.
Besides, round cookies fit the can better, so there.
After baking them, I cloaked them in chocolate.
That's right. I said cloaked.

I found these very quick and easy to make.
I filled my can very simply, just using tissue paper, and putting the cookies in cellophane bags. I had a really long 'to do list' today and I didn't have the mental energy to do something more creative, but I'm sure you'll come up with something much better.
You might want to hand your Valentine this card.
I'm sure it'd go over super great.

Oh boy, I needed something like this to make up tomorrow! Dad's going to get our Marine Friday to bring him home for some sweet leave. They are dropping some additional Marines at the airport out there. I thought I would send some small goodies for them, as one of them(his roommate) had requested some baked goodies from Smith's mom. This is just good good timing. And I am just giggling at the Valentines. Where in the world do you find these. I'm a likin' the "fat" one. hee hee hee. Thanks for the links. I gotta get busy like my superheroine Chicken Whisperer!!!!

ReplyDeleteI also so totally thought I had a heart shaped cookie cutter this morning when putting together some Rosemary/Pear Scones....had to use a round biscuit cutter. Matters not...they were so delicious, any shape would have been fine! And I LIKE the look of your round shortbread cookies...how perfect for your sweet can containers. Sure wish I was your neighbor!

hilarious valentines! I've just got to copy that mouse one onto a card for my hubby this year. He has really delighted in scooping the dead mice out of the basement since we moved to the country. Isn't life on the farm romantic?! Thanks for the inspiration.
