It's Wednesday already.
It's been a week of blood, sweat, and tears.
Mainly sweat.
My start weight: 242
My goal: 239
My weight this morning: 237
Can you say "YAY!"?
You were really wanting the gift certificate weren't you?
I'm sorry.
Goal for next Wednesday: 235.5
If I don't make it...a $50 Amazon.com gift card to the first commenter.
I am on day 8 of sugar-freeness.
The cupcakes were a challenge, but I'm happy to report that I didn't have nary a one.
Today I'm baking all my Christmas cookies.
Going to a Cookie Exchange on Thursday.
Aaron's birthday request is a Heath Bar Cheesecake for Saturday.
I'm crazy aren't I?
My resolve right now is iron-clad. I know I won't eat a single cookie, or a slice of cheesecake.
My energy level is back up, I feel great. Fruit is ridiculously sweet to me right now.
I don't want to just 'abstain' from sugar. I want to be sugar FREE. As in, I don't almost cry at the sight of a cupcake. I want to have it in the house, make it, give it to friends, and not feel any emotional pain in the process. Call me crazy, but I think I can do it.
Will I do this forever?
I don't know.
But I'm going to do it again today.
My next demon is Diet Coke. I have about 8 cans left in the house, and then it's bye bye to that.
Pray for me.
I am preparing a separate post to thank you all so much for your incredible support.
I'm still shaking my head at all the comments and emails.
You are the reason I was so successful this week.
Before I leave you, I wanted to share a scrumptious recipe with you.
Scrumptious is a very underused word if you ask me.
Turkey Breakfast Sausage
1 # of ground turkey BREAST
6 T rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 egg whites
4 T fresh parsley
1 t fresh sage
1/2 t salt
1/2 t pepper
dash of red pepper
Mix the above well. Form into 8 - 2 oz patties. Cook in a skillet sprayed with Pam.
2 patties are a serving.
(I use half the amount of dried spices when I don't have fresh available).
Today I get a splurge meal. One meal of whatever the heck I want.
I think I'm going to have deep fried bacon, wrapped in bacon, with a side order of bacon.
And a Diet Coke.
YAY for you!!!! You should be so proud of yourself and I'm so happy for you!! You are an inspiration to me and maybe I'll be able to stay away from all the holiday sweets.
ReplyDeleteI'm so stinking HAPPY for you. I've been so excited to see your way in. What a wonderful week for you. You are 1 smart little chicken to know that you can't maintain those kinds of results each week so I'm glad you have a reasonable goal this week. I'm so proud of you. Oh and did I mention I'm proud of you? Hugs, Jen
ReplyDeleteHello? It's early. I know that should have been weigh in. You knew that I knew that, right?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I've no doubt you'll achieve your goals.
ReplyDeleteI just read the quote on your front page about frontal nudity and hot bacon grease. It sounds like a excerpt from my own personal journal...only mine involves the operation of a hot steam iron while nude... Ouch!
I'll email you later this a.m.
yeah!!! well done! score one more for turkey!
ReplyDeleteWay to go!! You're an inspiration to me, I starting my weight loss plan after Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWow!! You go girl! I went caffiene-free over the summer and it was rough. I was super-addicted and it was hard to come off of it. But I did. And you can too. Now I don't even want to think about going back. I am not tempted by Mt Dews at all (well, except for about one day of PMS) and I can deal with that. The worst was the head-aches, but once you are over them, you are home free. You are awewome Jamie!
ReplyDeleteLady - You ROCK. I am way impressed. And during the Christmas season?
ReplyDeleteHope you're not mad at me for my KK post... ;)
WOOO-HOOOO!!! All the more impressive considering you did it while baking cupcakes! I'm amazed you can make sweets and not eat 'em. I've been about 90% sugar-free for 9 months, and it's absolutely true that the less sugar you have, the less you think about it or want it. But I try to stay completely away from sugary things - I don't buy 'em, don't make or bake 'em. Your resolve is MIGHTY if you can make treats and not sample. Could you put just a little of your determination in an envelope and send it here ASAP?!?!
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Jayme!
ReplyDeleteYay! Way to go Jayme! So happy for you that you exceeded your goal. Enjoy the bacon and Diet Coke today. You've earned it.
ReplyDeleteYipee...I am soooooo darn proud of you. That weight loss is fabulous. I knew you could do it! I don't think you will even miss your Diet Coke...they are so yukey! And, you still have your coffee.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the excellent work. I am supporting you 100%.
I think I commented on here before, but I just want you to know I'm not a LURKER! I'm a follower of your blog. (in my favs) I love that you have chickens. I love that you are a chicken "whisperer". lol!
ReplyDeleteWE had chickens and they were the ladies, and we appreciated them. raised them (incubator-hatched them) from fluffies. They were named, yes. Mustard, M&M, Angel, Tiny, Buffy, Marigold, Red, Dominique, Sparky, and Buster (yeah i know silly name for a hen)
Our faithful beautiful rooster Crackerjack had to go to the country at my MIL's....because he kept crowing too much for the suburbs! I am so inspired by your weight loss goals and determination. Thanks for your encouragement and weigh-ins showing your progress. I weighed in yesterday and want to do this with you. ...so> know there are "sisters" out here doing it with you...because of you! Thanks KEEP IT UP. You are prodding me to get in there and hang in there...really! Merry Christmas. I'm watching!and reading! I homeschooled too! Huzzah for doing it with your nephew. Got one studying criminal justice. One is a Marine in the Corps. One is taking college courses and pursuing physical fitness and physical trainer status. He is inspiration to me! And got my 16 year old to go. So Kudos Auntie! Character building is the biggest goal. It will be the foundation for all their attitudes in life and future studies!
Jayme yay for you :) I've just begun reading your blog for a month or so now, but I'm a sister in the weight loss goals. I admire your determination to be sugar free before the holidays are over! Be strong and I'll be cheering for you each week!
ReplyDeleteBecky
Good for you! That's a lot in only a week, don't be doing without or you might faint while you Christmas shop! Sounds like you are missing bacon! I had a friend who did the Diet Coke thing in stages. She took an ounce a day out of the one glass she allowed herself and replaced it with club soda or Perrier. By the 12th day it was just a little Diet Coke but she said she could still taste it and it was enough until she finally was able to kick the habit. Kind of like the nicotine patches I guess, less until the addiction is gone! Way to go girl...you are doing it!
ReplyDeleteWell done Jayme!
ReplyDelete(that's English understatement for YOU GO GIRL!)
Temptation comes in many forms, stay strong.
I on the other hand lost just 1 pound this week, but if I can keep this going I'll be 52 lbs lighter next Christmas.
Positive thinking.
Maggie
Jayme,
ReplyDeleteWay to go girl, you did it ! Week one is over and you definitely had a good one. Keep the strength for weeks ahead and keep gong!
I am so proud of you. You can do it!
ROFLMAO at your splurge meal!!! :)
ReplyDeleteGOOD FOR YOU FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN! Never have I been so happy to not have a chance to win something! :)LOL I'm proud of you Jayme! I think I am definitely going to try that sausage recipe...never head of it before and it sounds terriffic! Or rather SCRUMPTIOUS!
Fantastic, spectacular, FABULOUS!! I'm so proud and happy for you!! You are an awesome sight to behold ;)
ReplyDeleteAs for Diet Coke ... I also suffer from that demon. Can I caution you about quitting? Two years ago I went cold turkey, never thinking a thing about it. At first there were headaches, no problem. Out of the blue one day I started have tightening in my chest and heart palpitations. It was terrifying. Then it happened again in the middle of the night. After the third episode I went to the doctor and he did an EKG. It was then that I mentioned I'd quit caffeine. The doc said it is a real addiction and withdrawal symptoms are common and prevalent. If you drink large quantities, reduce your intake very slowly.
So there's my advice ... you can do it! And so can I. Some day! :)
I love positive news in the am, and your news is fabulous~!
ReplyDeleteI'm cutting back on the sugar to start with and have eliminated maple syrup from my coffee, toast and ice cream since you posted your first diet plan post.
How are your hens?
Chickens like warm grits with bacon fat and sausage trimmings, etc, just as much as the warm oatmeal & fruit. They need more fat & protein when its cold.( just like the wild birds need suet)
I am new to your blog and love it! I've quickly added it to my favorites center and visit daily.
ReplyDeleteGo you! Congratulations on your weight loss. Not easy, but you are doing it!
A big hug...
Way to go Jayme! Great progress (and great pedicure!) I have a feeling no one wanted to win that gift certificate today. I'm with you on the bacon. It's my all time favorite food.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your weight lost!
ReplyDelete-keep up the good work!
PAM
WOO HOO...what a great head start you are going to have on the New Year!! I'm thinking you should change your reward system though...I for one don't want to be rewarded for you NOT losing the weight...can you think of something positive for you to be rewarded for each and every week instead....
ReplyDeleteWOOT! WOOT! You keep slidin' down the scale, girly!! You are making me actually EXCITED to join you on this trip!! I am planning my course of attack and plan to blog along w/you!! Hooray for friends, the keep-kind!!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! Great Going there!
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of you for all your hard work.
Keep it up.
By the way... my 18's are getting loose. Under the tree is a pair of 16s. :) Thanks
Susan
Jayme, everyone said everything that I want to say and more. You go girl, you should be so proud of yourself!!!!!!I wish I can lose weight that easily.
ReplyDeleteI cancelled my doctors appointment 2 times because I can not lose any weight. It doesn't help that he is my friend, so he is privelaged to not only counsel me but he can also yell at me, in a nice way, but still.
I have gained 40 pounds since I started taking insulin and I super hate it. I used to wear size 8 and I sure can not wear that now.
Oh well, maybe if I really put my mind to it or take a lesson from my son, who every single day no matter what the weather he goes to the gym at 5 am.....to me that is total dedication.
I feel so dissapointed in myself, but watching you gives me inspiration and maybe I will really get into it now.
Thank you Jayme.
Mirjana
Tis an under-used word. Now I've seen pics of you and I didn't think you weighed half that much. But I am sending you sugar-free karma to get you to your goal!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
