Hey guys!
I'm here!
I went looking for Spring, and I found it - in Missouri.
: -)
My cousin Jim found himself in a pickle, needing some extra hands with his custom cabinet business, and I found myself with a little extra time on my hands - so I drove on down.
I meant to announce the coffee winners on Wednesday - but we've been busy.
I took a bunch of photos of the cabinets we made, and me working on them, but ding dang T-Mobile - I don't have much of a connection out here, and I can't get them loaded.
Without further adieu - here they are!
I love that I don't need material things
to make me truly happy. As long as I have the love of my husband, children and
grandchildren, I can face anything!!
and
I love that I am stronger than I ever
thought I could be. Learning it a lot here lately.
Enter me in your giveaway! I sure can use a good cup of coffee to get me
going in the morning :)
Enter me in your giveaway! I sure can use a good cup of coffee to get me
going in the morning :)
Y'all email me at jayme.goffin@yahoo.com and I'll get the coffee out to you ok?
Now - the final giveaway -
Yep - all of it. I just realized today that it's been FOUR flippin' years that I've been blogging - four years today - Easter Sunday.
SO, to enter to win this 'Coop Keeper Gift Basket' - all ya have to do is leave a comment and let me know why I should or shouldn't get a goat.
: -)
I'll be in Missouri about another week. I was super surprised to see that the feed store here didn't have baby chicks - but - Lowe's and Walmart is full of tomato plants and flowers. Glenco called and said that it looks like all the beehives have survived the winter!
I'm bristling over here!

ReplyDeleteTotes get a goat! Free lawn mower :)
ReplyDeleteGoats are very very needy and noisy. You wouldn't be able to take off with the Squirrel or with friends on a whim and leave a goat behind. And you can't bring them in the house because they drop berries everywhere. They are cute, but pretty much a PITA....in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteYou should get a goat because goat cheese is the best thing ever!
ReplyDeleteWhy you need a goat? There is nothing more adorable than a baby goat. We have three this year. They can be your best friend out in the barnyard and they really are easy to take care of. If you get a good milker, the milk is better for you and goat cheese is really really good. And pretty easy to make
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have read on your blog it would appear you are an animal lover. GET THE GOAT!
ReplyDeleteHi! I have 2 wethers (castrated males). I got them when they were 3 months old and they just turned 2 years. I Love Them! They eat weeds! They keep me entertained. And they love me! They make me laugh at least once a day. I would get them again if I had it to do over :-) These are pretty good reasons why you should get goats! It's all in the laughter.

ReplyDeleteGreetings! I've been following your website for a while now and finally got the bravery to go ahead and give you a shout out from New Caney Texas! Just wanted to say keep up the excellent work!
ReplyDeleteMy site :: The web’s premiere DJ community
Get a goat! Or lots of goats! They will keep you in stitches and they might also make you say a few ugly words from time to time, but overall they are worth it. That's what I keep telling myself anyway :)
ReplyDeleteI have to stay neutral; pretty much a city girl living in the country...I would not know the first thing about keeping goats. But happy Blogoversary just the same!!
ReplyDeleteGoats are adorable..but my dad has a male named Stinky Santa. He is a major stink! You can smell him the moment you open the car door. (And he lives the life of luxury in a spotless barn and huge enclosure)
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes you should!!! Why? Because they are adorable duh! LoL :)
ReplyDeleteOh Kay,e, You truly need a goat!!! Fun to watch and milk!! Go for it girl!!
ReplyDeleteYou should 100% ding dang definitely get a goat. Your farm sure needs one. A goat completes everything. It is cute, it eats grass so we don't have to mow, and it gives us something to do when it climbs out of its pen. Fun!
ReplyDeletegit the goat, already!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blog anniversary...
ReplyDeleteMy hubby was a goat herder, at one point in his life, and would jump all over this idea...YES! You should get a goat.
Get a Nubian. (I think I'm spelling that correctly.) Don't ask me why? Those are all he ever talks about..when he talks goats. ;)
One of the things that Scott (my husband) likes to mention is that goats will eat Poison Ivy - and if you drink their milk... you'll be immune to getting Poison Ivy. I don't know if you deal with getting P.I. or not..
However... if you get a goat...
I will be praying for your beautiful flowerbeds and garden.. :)
True story: I do not own an apron, I've never been to Missouri, and I love thee.
ReplyDeleteFour Years! Think of how much has changed in that time! You are like a new person.
ReplyDeleteAbout the goat-I love goat cheese. Think open house with goat cheese for sale!
jan
You should most definitely get a goat. Why? Because I can't get one and then I get to look at goat pictures on your blog. ;-) And think of all the things you could do with goats milk...
ReplyDeletewell now Miss Smarty Pants why shouldn't you have a goat??? You could make soap with the milk or cheese. She will take the place of that boy Aaron when he is gone (the deserter that he is) and it will give you something to worry about cause we all know you NEED to worry about something. so there. Nancy Settel sheepishgrin92@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteOh! Get a goat! Because I want a goat, but we aren't zoned for farm animals. I can live vicariously through your adventure!
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't know much about keeping any animals except dogs. But, I am going to say no, thinking goats are higher maintenance than your bees, cats & chickens. Why? Isn't it great to be able to pick and go, if possible, when you want to?...Help your cousin...Go get Aaron when he's sick...Camping. Unless you're really desiring to add on more "live creature" responsibilities (though benefits of goat milk & cheese does sound good), I would say no.
ReplyDeleteCindy
I bet you are having a good time working on cabinets...sounds like fun. Glad all the hives made it....yay for the bees. Get a goat for sure, I have been thinking that way too.
ReplyDeleteWell, let's see.....we know you will make goat cheese and bottle the milk and with your talents you will probably weave a blanket out of goat hair.....and instead of being the crazy chicken lady you can be crazy goat girl and it will all be grand until you try to put a baby goat in your bra....:) can't wait to see you try....get the goat...:)
ReplyDeleteOf course, get a goat--one more animal to love!
ReplyDeleteIf you get a goat, get a baby goat or even better at least a couple of them. They are so cute and so much fun to watch. They have to jump on top of everything and it is a competition to see who can be the highest. They make me smile. I wanted to have goats until I saw that video about goats who sound like people. Now I am not so sure. But baby goats....oh so cute.
ReplyDelete(And isn't working with wood so satisfying? I make furniture from re-purposed wood and old furniture. There is something so therapeutic about the whole process...)
Pam from Colorado
Get a goat! They will make you laugh with their strange noises. Google "goat screaming." I am swooning over that clothespin apron, let me tell ya.
ReplyDeleteJayme, I'm not going to mince words with you...male goats are nasty. They smell awful and they are sexually inappropriate with themselves. I would give you more details, but there is no polite way to put it. Female goats are darling, however they are little Houdini's at escaping their enclosures. You wouldn't be able to get just get one either. They are highly social and seem to get depressed if alone. So, my suggestion is, if you are hellbent on getting a goat, get two females and Glenco's assistance in "escape proofing" their habitat or you'll be chasing them all over creation. They are sweet little things, I understand the desire to have them. Have a great week.-Tracy
ReplyDeleteOur family has declared this the "Year of the Goat(s)" No males though...it sounds like the aroma is a bit much! My heart is set on a few small-ish ones...the kids have even chosen names. E-gads, go for it!
ReplyDeleteYou should get a goat because I CAN'T. Dumb city won't let me. Then I can live vicariously through you :)
ReplyDeletexoxo, Andrea
I agree with ConfectionSlinger about the goats. I just had to have them "because I was going to milk them and make cheese and soap". Well I got two nannies and neutered male. Well you can't milk without breeding and I did not want a nasty male and the fact that they have multiple babies which have to bottle fed if you want to milk. I knew that if they had babies I would want to keep them all. Needless to say I never breed them and finally gave them away. It is not easy having goats. That said, please enter my name in your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMichle
Good for you for jumping to aid your cousin! Congrats to all the winners and congrats on 4 years! You know I love to visit you-xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI would definitely get a goat. Why? Because you can!!!! Live the dream of adding a goat to your brood.
ReplyDeleteGo for it! Goats = less weed pulling and weed eating. :) I think. ;)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your four years! You have your chickens and bees, now you need your goat. Jodi
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting because Beth (aka Lizard Breath) mentioned you -AND your coffee - which i'm about to check out for myself in a moment. I really like your Spring Sighting - You SHOULD have a goat, maybe 20 goats - because they are beautiful - they'll give you lots of terrific photo opportunities, and make you laugh and keep you extra company in the world - The Joy Factor would be enormous.
ReplyDeleteHappy day to You!
-g-
You SHOULD get a goat if you really want one....you SHOULDNT get a goat if Glenco is not a fan of goats....unless of course, you just want to "get his goat". ;)
ReplyDeleteYou should get a goat to eat weeds and vines that you would rather not have on your property. Our place looks like a park because of our lovely goats. They are fun and entertaining. They are also sweet company. Go for it!!
ReplyDeleteJamie! I think you should absolutely get a goat! My friend makes soap from the goat milk that is absolutely wonderful! You could add it to your ETSY.
ReplyDeleteCourtney
Yipppeee I won coffee. Happy Dance. This giveaway is over the top. Since I won last time please do not enter me in this one.
ReplyDeleteGoat=no Pig=yes I tell ya, you won't listen pig is the way to go.
If it drives you nuts you can eat it.
Get the goat because life is short, you want one, they make for fabulous photo ops, you can use the milk for all kinds of things, you get to choose a cool name for it, it will love you and follow you around, you can blog about it, Aaron will love it and Glenco will learn to, you can make hats for it, there is undoubtedly one out there who NEEDS a home, and YOU can provide it! Hope to see those photos soon.
ReplyDeleteYou should not get a goat. You should get two goats! They are very entertaining to watch. But none with horns. Goats with horns are like three year olds with scissors!
ReplyDelete~MMR
Oh to win a Coop-keeper give away and to wear that apron. That would be to die for. Goats-humm, I got butted by a goat when I was young. I was hanging out at the Suffolk Downs race track where my uncle kept a few of his race horses. I was standing in front of one of the stalls and I heard a shout, when I turned around, or just about to, the goat got me just below the butt on my thigh. Ya it hurt I won't kid. Still no reason to not get one! Just never turn your back on them LOL.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy SPRING!
Donna M.
Goats love to follow you around--they will be great company. Goats love to munch on your grass--you can spend less time mowing and more time with your furry and feathery friends. Goats eat anything--so you have a homemade garbage disposal--good for the earth. Not to mention...we readers would love to hear about the coopkeeper and her goat-escapades! :)
ReplyDeleteMarianne
Please get a goat! I want one so badly and this way I can live vicariously thru you! I don't think the Town of Highland would approve of me getting one. Unless I name him Fido and he lives in the house ;)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and son-in-law have two goats and just love them. They are easy to care for and can keep your yard mowed without much trouble. Just don't let them near your garden. I say, "Get a goat."
ReplyDeleteGet a goat! But remember, billies smell awful and any kind, male or female, will eat your flower and veggie gardens. They make good companions, I imagine they need companions, too, so you probably will have to get two. They are cute, and they need attention like any other animal. Congrats on four years.
ReplyDeletePeggy D
Lawnmower! Goat cheese! I would say, go for the goat, but I've never actually owned one, so I'm no expert.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 4 year "blogiversary" :)
You could add goat milk soap to your list of products (my fav!) and the milk also makes outrageously good ice cream. Plus, they are just cute and fun! You might want to consider getting two, they are very "herd" animals and you may find just one breaking out to locate another...be well, enjoy spring and congrats on the hives! ~Vonnie
ReplyDeleteWe have two Nubian Goats that are yours if you come get 'em! :-) They are fun and the kids enjoyed having them for 4-H but just done. They definaetly have personalities and are talkative...
ReplyDeleteI think you should get a goat or two. I've been using goat milk soap and it makes my skin feel so soft. We had a Billy goat once. The girls loved playing with him. Just promise me that you won't feed them azalea clippings, though. I didn't have the luxury of this knowledge at the time we had Billy. it made him very sick. Oh and congrats on 4 years of blogging!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 4th blogging anniversary!
ReplyDeleteGet a goat, if and ONLY IF, it will leave your beautiful flowers intact and growing peacefully in your gardens. Get a goat if you have room in you heart for it. Be blessed by having a goat.
Just my surburban, mini-van toting four kids, a dog and a cat keeper's perspective.
Jayme, I have been doing my homework and prepping to get a pair of them for when we move! (Yes, the Farmlet is looking for new, and bigger, digs!)
ReplyDeleteIn your situation you should get a goat if you are willing to mow down your lovely milkweeds, plant some grass, and put up a fence line and cross fencing. Why? Because unless you want to be dosing them with heavy wormer applications, you will need to move them from pasture to pasture every three weeks. You will also need a shed for them to get out of inclement weather, and a mini donkey or Newfoundland dog to keep them safe day and night. Oh yes, and you will need more than one goat because no matter how much you may like and love on that goat it will still be lonely if you don't get it a playmate.
I say get a goat, however as people are saying, he/she will eat everything in site....so would need to fence it. What about a lamb or two? Cute as can be...
ReplyDeleteGlad you found Spring. It found us too here in Portland.
Happy Spring.
http://frontporchindiana.blogspot.com/.
ReplyDeleteIf you have not read her blog, please do. She posted pics of miniature goats...they'd be perfect...adorable to boot!
:o)
All lives deserve a goat or six :-) And I need that Spring Chicken magic!
ReplyDeletei love the coffee & lip balm. great stuff. i have been recommending it to all my readers/friends. so love!! ( :
ReplyDeleteMy first instinct was to say "NO....don't do it!" Been there, done that. Replaced the wiring on the horse trailer, and every other thing the goat destroyed while "mowing my lawn". Curently I'm dealing with a neighbor's 10-goat herd that he can't keep at home. If you get one, design the very best fencing man ever invented, then double it. My 3500 volt 4-strand tape around the horse pasture doesn't even slow his goats down. Please, enter me in the drawing anyway :-)
ReplyDeleteI have seen mini goats and they are just adorable. I know if anyone can handle a goat you can. The Beekman's have a Fainting goat called Fainty I think that's so cute. OK I assume Glenco is on board because My husband has an uncle nicknamed "STUB". HE was really something. He lived life fully and with gusto. Oh the stories I could tell. So, one day he decided he wanted goats to live on his roof like the ones at Al Johnson's in Door County. Well Stub being Stub did it. When his wife came home from work she asked him Who's goats are those and what are they doing on our roof?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you decide.
Have fun in Missouri.
Karen
Get a goat because they are SO cute, but BE PICKY about which goat you get.
ReplyDeleteThe men are stinky ~ there's a theme in all that creeps upon the earth with that one.
The ladies have cheese/kid potential.
Get a girl or two!! But buy small varieties. Like my old mama said to me before I bought a huge dog, "You can love a little poodle just as much as that monster with far less hair and aggravation." That should be written as One to Grow On in Aesop's Fables.
Missouri is BEAUTIFUL. We went to St. Charles when Hurricane Sandy hit, but we were supposed to go to Washington DC. What a lovely surprise it was to see St. Charles instead of the massive storm! So glad you're enjoying your time there.
~KateJ
I need that serum, have you seen my face? Love that you found spring, I can smell it here, but still can't feel it. I want to see those cabinets, too. When you leave the wild country, post the pics, please. Jayme, you are an inspiration to me, thanks.
ReplyDeleteMy mom took my sisters and I to an auction when we had a farm. We came home with a goat for a $1! My dad was surprised when he came home and the goat was in the kitchen. We didn't keep him long as he was MEAN! So, it all depends on if your goats are naughty or nice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway! I'd love to win!
ReplyDeleteI think you should get a goat..heck I would if I could!!! Maybe you could think about getting some for milk?? Just a thought..Barbara
ReplyDeleteYou really need a goat (or two). Just think of all the entertaining/informative posts you could write! Another adventure on life's road. We need you to get a goat. Can still remember goats eating our neighbor's laundry..not funny to her but it was to the neighborhood kids. Go for it Jayme!
ReplyDeleteWe have goats, so I could go either way with advice. They are cute, especially the kids. They are also a nuisance at times. When we told someone we were getting goats they asked about our fencing. Husband told them field fence. They asked if we could throw water through it. Of course. Well, then the goats could get through it. :-)
ReplyDeletegoats, huh? Well, I'm quite certain you'll be smitten with them, especially if you get pygmies, and the poop'll be good for your garden, so yeah ~ go for it.
ReplyDelete(and, pick me!!!! :-)
I say yes on the goats (although don't tell Glenco I said that, lol!)! Get some dairy goats that way you'll have fresh milk to make cheese, butter and/or soap with. You'll get to enjoy the goats AND benefit from them too! Just make sure your fencing is good... like the escape.
ReplyDeleteHappy Bloggiversary!
I tossed the idea of dairy goats around about a year ago. I did some "recon" on them...read dairy goat magazines .For me, they require more time then I have to give right now with working full time. But, SOMEDAY.. I'll be havin' me a few goat babies. For now I just have my girls that give me bee-u-tiful eggies. Good luck with your delema.
ReplyDeleteOh, and pick me ! :)
TinaH
Goats and chickens just naturally go together....get goats!
ReplyDeleteThis is a tough one for me to answer. I have bad memories of always having to try to catch the goats because they got out AGAIN!!! They are cute though! ;) So based on cute and my love for animals...get the goat!
ReplyDeleteThis is a tough one for me to answer. I have bad memories of always having to try to catch the goats because they got out AGAIN!!! They are cute though! ;) So based on cute and my love for animals...get the goat!
ReplyDeleteGet a goat so you can name it Aaron (or Erin)... that way you can see and talk to Aaron every single day!
ReplyDeletePlease get the goat because I would love to read about the adventures! They couldn't be any more work than the chickens, right?!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear what you decide! Happy Weekend,
Karen

I've had goats for 30 years (Nubians) and will have them for the next 30. They are intelligent, gentle creatures (most of the time). They give you delicious milk for home made ice-cream, cheese, soap, and we feed the milk to our hens who in return give us the most flavorful eggs. We "milk" the chickens at our house!
ReplyDeleteA goat will go for walks with you, pull a cart full of vegetables to deliver around the neighborhood, but best of all is their floppy ears, get one with floppy ears!
Please get a goat! I have wanted one for years for the goat milk, but my husband says it's a goat or him.....I told him I will let him know when I
ReplyDeletemake my decision (hehehe)!
You should definitely NOT get goats! They eat anything, including pretty flowers and vegetable plants! I've see pics of your lovely yard, and it's too pretty to go to the goats. Love your blog. You're so funny and clever!
ReplyDeleteJayme: I got my package with my chicks you made and my coffee that I ordered from your Etsy shop, and am in love with all of it. I got the chicks for my grandbabies for Easter, but I loved them so much I couldn't part with them. They're peeking out of a basket in my office where I can seen them every day. I haven't tried the coffee yet, but it smells so good. It's in my office too because I love the packaging and sometimes I just pick it up and smell it--heavenly! I hate to admit it, but my coffee pot is downstairs somewhere and my husband goes uptown every morning and gets me coffee.
ReplyDeleteWanted to tell you too that I got new baby chicks. I have 8 of them, different varieties. They're also in my office in a trough under a heat lamp. They're tiny and adorable and I've been reading everything I can on how to take care of them. I have two tiny banty chicks that like to nest in the pocket of my sweatshirt while I work.
I live about 30 minutes from St Louis down Interstate 64, if you're traveling that way back to Indiana. Would love to meet you and you could visit my zoo - 2 ducks, 8 chicks, 1 parakeet, 2 dogs. I would be more than happy to dig out my coffee maker and we could talk about weight loss, and chicks, and hiking, and goats and menopause. I might threaten to lock you in my basement because I'm sure I wouldn't want you to leave. (You know that's a joke, right!)
I just love your blog, and I love you. You're an inspiration to me. Now, if you could help me lose some weight...
thank you so much for the kind offer! If I hadn't been gone so long, I would have taken you up on it!! I was in quite a hurry to get home. : -) The route I take is I 44 to I 70 to I 57.
DeleteI think you should get a goat so you can put on a play and yodel..."high on a hill with a lonely goatherd, lady-0hda-lady-ohda-laaaaaydeeeewhooooo" like in The Sound of Music!!! You could charge admission and make some extra money!
ReplyDeleteI'm typing in bed and it's dark in here and the light from the iPad drew a bug and I squished it while typing this comment. Ewwwww. It was some where during the yodeling!
