Garlic Pear Pasta

This recipe is just too good not to share. I've adapted a recipe from MaryJane Butters, adding my own little twists to it.

Isn't that blackboard cute?? 50 cents at a yardsale. I've always wanted a little blackboard to post notes, dinner of the day, etc. It's about 20" x 24". I love it!

With a few simple ingredients, you can have dinner on the table in about 10 minutes. You'll need:
  • Angel hair pasta
  • 3-4 ripe pears
  • a pinch of red pepper flakes
  • handful of fresh parsley (you can used dried too)
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
  • olive oil
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • handful of walnuts
Ok, there are no measurements to this recipe, cause I sorta made it up. This is what I did:
  • Cook angel hair pasta according to package directions. Drain and liberally coat with olive oil.
  • Toast the walnuts in a hot skillet (do not add oil) Remove them from the skillet when you can start to smell them....about five minutes. Stir them around often.
  • In that same skillet, add about 1/4 cup of olive oil (this is what I did for four servings)
  • Chop up your garlic (I did not mince mine) and with the heat on very low, add the garlic, keeping a close watch on it. You do not want to over brown the garlic, it will make it very bitter.
  • Allowing about one pear per person, core the pears, but do not peel. Slice them about 1/4" thick, and put in the pan with the oil and garlic. Add your red pepper flakes, about 1/8 of a teaspoon, depending on your taste.
  • Slowly saute this, just until the pears are fork tender, you don't want them mushy.
  • Place noodles on dish, and top with a generous portion of pear/garlic mixture. Garnish with nuts and parsley. Salt and pepper to taste.

  4. I'm gonna have to take your word that this pasta is good, because for me, garlic + pear = eeeww. I love garlic, I love pears, but the two together sounds SO wrong. I hope someone braver than me makes it and posts the results here......

  5. As I read your recipe, I had a bowl of Progresso split pea with ham soup warming in the microwave. Trade ya...

Where I come from, 'dressing' a chicken involves their neck alright...but also croutons, sage, celery, etc... Besides, no self-respecting 'biker chix' would be caught dead in a bonnet...

Can't wait to meet the poor pampered, tortured darlings...

  11. Donna, when you said that hat looked familiar, I thought you meant my garden hat for some reason, then I remember making lil Nelson a hat with that same yarn!

Hi Tina! glad to make you smile

QueenBuffness....I'm still in denial. There is no helping me.

Mama Hen, don't let her expression fool you, she loved it!

Sparky, I'm so curious to see if you'll like it. I don't have a very sophisticated palette.

Peggy, I'm sorry, I feel bad for you, until I read on Facebook that you are roasting your own coffee beans!

Ladybug, I was just really surprised at how good it was. I normally wouldn't look at a recipe like that twice....pears, pasta and garlic?

Raundalee, I was out that way last night! DUH~! I will come see you this weekend, I sure hope to.

Anke...I'v always had a fascination about animals with clothes. I think it goes back to my love of Beatrix Potter, and little mice and bunnies with aprons on. :-)

Pam, the reason you've never seen it, is cause it's impossible to get them to keep them on! LOL!

Hi Tammy! Thanks for stopping by..hope you do try the recipe!

  14. That chicken is so funny. It reminds me of when my daugher crocheted hats for her hamster and photographed him wearing them.
